Title: How do you get GM Sounds in 6
Post by: RossDarker on June 29, 2018, 09:48:38 AM
As in General MIDI Sounds. When I open a MIDI file with Logic 6.4.3, it opens fine and everything loads. When I press play I can see the volume indicators moving, but can't get sound to come out. Right now I have to take all the tracks and drag then up to the Audio Inst tracks then change the plugin to EXS24 then apply each instrument, and I do get sound, but this does not solve my problem as sometimes EXS24 doesn't have the instrument I need, and sometimes GM Instruments are better for particular tracks. In Logic X I can set the tracks to DLSMusicDevice, change the MIDI Channel of the Drums to 10, then all is good. Is there a way to do this in 6.4.3, as I do need these GM Sounds. By the way with QuickTime Player, and SoundApp PPC I get these sounds, I just need Logic to use them. I have an example of a freshly opened MIDI file:
