Title: Master List of of *missing* VST Instruments for Mac OS 9.
Post by: MacTron on January 17, 2015, 12:12:36 PM
I know there still some Shareware and Freeware VSTs unposted on the downloads sections, like VSamp, Crystal, Vivaldi, CesSynth, FmHeaven... and so on ... but most of them are still easily avaliable on the net, so there is no hurry.

But, what are the  imposible or hard to find missing ones?

I'll begin the list:

Sampletank v2: We have the version 1 but not the version 2, which includes some enhancements.
LM4 MKII: we have the LM4 but not this MKII version that include a some enhancements like easy edit of velocity layers.
MatrixSynth, this is free. I've unsuccessfully tried to contact the author (Paul Le Secq).
Cameleon 5000: we only have a very buggy and incomplete version.

T-Racks in VST format

MachFive, Antares Filter and others are the "iLooked" ones so we have to forget them ...

Sonnox Oxford EQ seems to be for Authorized UAD cards only ...

The list can be continued ...

im sorry but i dont agree with this at all.
not everyone is great at hunting + finding things down.. this site is now the definitive resource for this material, and i think these things should be posted here
the same as the others, for ease of access, and also visually to see that it is an option ("out of sight out of mind"), some people may not even be aware that they exist unless we post them here.

whats more, there may be people that have many different systems and are accustomed to using *this site* we shouldnt have to search the internet
to find a copy of crystal with google..  everytime we want to find this..

are we not here to gather all the software that is valuable to be used by the powerpc mac os users? rather then worrying about which has a higher dollar value originally attributed to it????

also the title of this thread, when read in english, seems to say that the master list  of vst instruments (the list itself) is not available..??
in english, to have people understand that your thread is about vst's that we are still looking for, a better title might be
"vst plugins we're having trouble locating" or "looking for these vsts" or "master list of missing plugin versions" or  something?  i dunno ;) lol
dont feel bad, because i couldnt even begin to write a topic in another language ;) english is all i know.. well maybe a bit of french but it would take me 10min to figure out how to write:)

This thread is for make a list of VSTs that we don't have. Other considerations are out of the focus here.
I have no problems into accept criticism, different options or any discussion related to the forum. But It I'm bored that some people use to unfocus some threads with the same things ... If you wish to discuss other questions, like what or what not should be here, you should open another thread or better yet use some of the already open ones about this.

i thought Diehard has this version? pretty sure he has spoken about it many times but that the copy protection prevented was beefed up on this version??
i remember him telling me that you and he tried to get it to work but could not...

LM4 MKII: we have the LM4 but not this MKII version that include a some enhancements like easy edit of velocity layers.

the whole point of making the master list (http://macos9lives.com/smforum/index.php?topic=2209.0)
 was to have ONE list...

if u notice.. jerry has "STATUS: Acquired"  im sure he was planning on adding these vsti that u are talking about here and putting "STATUS: missing"

we should focus our efforts on completing this other thread.
if we each do 1 or 2 additions per day it would be done quickly.

its a great idea by diehard..  i didnt think of even doing this...
i was just talking about text based list

I can upload LM4 mkII and Steinberg the Grand v1.

Contact me in private if there is some particular rule about posting on the download section.

Of course DieHard idea is very good.

But I'm doing the opposite, because it is easy. And with the hope that someone may have some of those missing files ...

We don't have to be focused on the same things, all of us at the same time. And finding the missing files is a very important task also.
If someone offer us a Logic 5 or 6 without needing the dongle protection -by example-, do you really think that I don't give him all the time and resources I can, instead of be worried if we have MDA piano in the downloads section?. Even Though I don't like Logic.

Copying this CD isn't easy. This was an unfinished work. I don't blame DieHard, nor me, we both have a lot of things to do and to worry about and so little time.

... but may be that vespertine can do the job ...

in the amount of time that it took u to reply to this post u could have posted 1 or 2 of them.. i agree MDA piano isnt worth much time, but there are some free things that are of value, Crystal is one of them, Ambience Reverb another, CamelPhatFree another.

Yes, I'm in touch with him. I asked him for a image file of LM4 MK2. A partial image -if we can't have the full one, (due to copy protection) - can do the trick, I think.

I've been busy at work recently, but I'm confident that in a couple of days I can create a toast image of the first LM4mkII CD and upload to FTP.
I hope you can overcome any copy protection mechanism.
Send me in private your "wish list", perhaps I have some other plugin you miss.

Cameleon 5000 is the only additive resynthesis virtual synth we have in Mac Os 9. The good news is that we already have Cameleon 5000 since a few months . But it is a very problematic copy: It ask for registration each time the plugin is launched and don't accept the default patches, nor others, and it is unstable etc...
so what we really need it is a better copy or a better version ...

im really surprised T-racks is missing also!! i still know some producers who use this VST version on osx using old cubase SX version!

is it possible that it was only a standalone version in macos9? and that the vst version was OSX only?

lets take a look;
t-racks.. its made by ik multimedia?? right?

http://web.archive.org/web/19980610125611/http://www.ikmultimedia.com/
http://web.archive.org/web/20001206085500/http://www.ikmultimedia.com/
ok i see theres a dedicated site for it:
http://web.archive.org/web/20001205055200/http://www.t-racks.com/
http://web.archive.org/web/20010216223727/http://www.t-racks.com/TRReleases.html
http://web.archive.org/web/20030112090632/http://www.t-racks.com/Main.html?TRRelease07

ok heres the announcement about DirectX + VST versions-
i think the date is January 20th 2003? (if im reading the date right)
heres the press release http://web.archive.org/web/20030405102257/http://www.t-racks.com/Main.html?TRRelease18

it also mentions a version for PT 6 on mac osx (http://web.archive.org/web/20030202094716/http://www.t-racks.com/Main.html?TRRelease17)

not really
alot of the old download locatins are dissappearing fast
it would be nice to have all of these things posted here for ease of access
+ not having to go searching "in the wild"

i just discovered that Sonic Timeworks L.L.P. also released for Mac OS 9. I thought they were windows only until now.

https://web.archive.org/web/20071123175429/http://www.sonictimeworks.com/products.php
 (https://web.archive.org/web/20071123175429/http://www.sonictimeworks.com/products.php)
"Requirements

Protools compatable RTAS sytem. Pro Tools 5.1 or higher / Pro Tools LE / Pro Tools Free
   Compatible with Pro Tools HD...
MAC- MacOS 9 or higher. G3 or higher."

https://web.archive.org/web/*/http://www.sonictimeworks.com/* (https://web.archive.org/web/*/http://www.sonictimeworks.com/*)

enter "hqx" to filter out the AU/VST/RTAS demos for mac OS 9

demo's work for 30 seconds, then shut off for 5 seconds.

maybe someone in the future can bring us those curiosities back to the future
