I picked up a DA 466 G4 recently for pretty cheap and thought to migrate my upgrades over from a GE 400 G4 for the faster bus speed. Everything worked with the CPU upgrade in the GE. Installation went smooth, but there was one hitch. No Audio while running mac OS 9.2. The firmware was upgraded before installation from 4.1.1 to 4.2.8. I tried uninstalling/reinstalling the gigadesigns firmware with original CPU and the sound works fine with the new firmware. It just doesn't work with the new CPU installed. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks!

I had to use a cheap USB DAC on Mac Mini 9.2 for clean sound. Not sure yours is related to your CPU upgrade...

thanks for the suggestion. like i said, with stock cpu - sound. gigadesigns cpu - no sound (only os 9). the sound also worked with a gigabit ethernet g4 with the upgrade, running os 9. i should also mention, i tried multiple clock speeds from 1.53-1.8ghz. i also removed the upgrade and reinstalled the os 9 from legit CD, reinstalled the new cpu and still nothing. Booting from a OS 9 CD - no sound. deleted sound prefs, and tried without extensions - silence...
