Title: Add monitor resolutions in Mac OS 9.2.1
Post by: Oskarius on January 23, 2021, 02:09:22 PM
Hi!

I would like to change my monitor resolution to 1680 x 1050 (or something similar in that range for wide screen), but my preferences in Mac OS 9 won’t let me. That’s my setting in OS X (Tiger) and it looks just right (not too small, not too big). Currently the only wide screen option I have is 1920 x 1200, which I find a little tiny. All other options are for non-wide screens and makes the image look squshed.

I’m running Mac OS 9.2.1 (in Swedish) on a Power Mac Quicksilver G4, Nvidia Geforce2 MX 32 mb graphics card, connected to a HP E242 monitor via a VGA cable.

Does anyone here know how I could solve this problem?

Hi Oskarius,

Your best bet would be to install SwitchRes 2 on your OS9 to have more choices:

Let us know how it goes ;)

Hi DrNo7,

Thanks for your reply! I tried SwitchRes, but I couldn't get any other resolution option working than the ones already offered by the control panel. Anyway, I moved on and got my hands on an MDD with a slightly better graphics card, which gives a couple of more options :D
