Wanted : G4 Gigabit PSU - API 9841 291 (UK)
« on: August 07, 2023, 01:43:57 AM »
On the odd chance someone has one. Trying to locate a replacement but can’t find one anywhere. I know there is a modification you can do to use a ATX PSU in one of these but frankly I’ve read the directions and not sure I know how to modify it appropriately!

Current PSU ‘works’ but smells like a hot hair dryer and the machine is highly unstable. So think it’s very likely on its last legs.

Thanks,

Josh

If it smells, then open it up and clean it. It is probably full of dust and other stuff. Got any pets?  ;)
If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the problem.

I do but I only just got hold of this machine, I collected it cheap and then realised it was covered in cat urine which is awful stuff. I’ve had to strip it down to its individual parts and clean everything throughly, the only thing I haven’t cleaned yet is the PSU as I have no experience of opening them up (only once in the past).

I guess I could have a go, if I leave it unplugged for a week or so it’s highly unlikely to contain any remaining charge surely.
