Title: New Happy Mac Icon for custom ROMS
Post by: MacTron on April 07, 2018, 11:45:30 AM
I would prefer that changes be made to the part of the OS that has actually been modified: the NewWorld ROM. Otherwise we're changing parts of the System file that were language-localised. How about a subtle, non-textual tweak to the Happy Mac icon? I have attached a BinHexed resource file containing the 'cicn' resource from the ROM.
I have made a slight modded Happy Mac Icon to be used in custom ROMs (the left one):

But unfortunately I could Achieve to make it appear. Do someone knows where it must go? and what kind of resource and what kind of resource it should be?

most likely not in the ROM file itself...

Looks great, MacTron! Question is, what does it signify?

The 'cicn' resource needs to be buried quite deep in the legacy 68k part of the ROM. I've put "HappyMacTron" in the attached ROM.

Anyone ever get the death chime and the black screen with the "Dead" Mac?

I had a 5300c that from time to time would do this to me, may have been unique to old Portables.

BTW, good work MacTron, I installed the ISO Ross made for the Mini, and I'm really enjoying the custom "Happy Mac".
