I have been asking for this years...

…Because that's just what we need… to be more like Facebook.

Next mod: Like, Love, and all the mind state needed for GaryN and 110 to answer neewies.

Yeah… just like my ex said "You're gonna miss me when I'm gone…"

How did I get lumped in with 110?

We dont need to be like Facebook, but there is never enought empathy.

I really needed to show respect to post writers.

I have pressed a little less than 800 times the like button on posts by DieHard, MacTron, 110, FBz, nanopico, devils, Mat, Enabler and others like you users that ADD time and effort for a better&bigger forum. That is what the 770 likes given means, not that I recieved 770 likes...  ;D

I have pressed vastly less for Chris iterations, only a few pinned post than didnt derrail.

Here goes where my votes (770 likes that I have sent others) are going.

Notice I am not the winner at anything but most time on forum, with 60 days.

Give me back my 60 days.   ;)

That was not my intention, and I apologize to core members that don't "like" the mod, no pun intended, I just thought it would give us a little more info and feedback instead of "Read 10,000" times so I sheeld out a few bucks and gave it a try; also I was looking for a way to Giveaway the minis and I thought it would be nice if I can get all members involved... a like = a vote for the mini Giveaway.  There are tons of social media mods that I have NOT purchased because many members here like their anonymity.

OK... I hope that was a joke... Gary, if you need me to "nuke" the mod, just say so, you are very needed here

Think PT explained this, it is just the "total" likes that member has given, not hacked...yet

If I've spent 27 days on this forum, I must've spent at least 10x that much fooling with old Macs. It was worth every bit of effort too.

I like the "like" :-D ...seriously, how often am I reading a post that contains helpful info but then I don't wanna spam the forums with "thanks, that was helpful" replies. Yet, I DO WANT to give something back to the person investing the time to share his/her knowledge. So I feel this is a great way of doing it.

On a sidenote - Functions like that have been there on Bulletin Boards before Facebook and the whole Social Media crap. Where do you think Zuckerberg got the "inspiration" from? :)

newsgroups: 1988, hotline 1.x: 1993, ... for me the "development of technology" could  have ended in 2001. things only get worse.

Hmm, .... I do not like to frustrate anybody. But I really do not like the likes!
They will lead to the same problems than every FaceBook and Co. stuff, that presentation and likes are more important than the messages itselves. It will slowly shift the reason of postings form real discussions, help and true sharing of knowledge in direction of "presenting ones selv" and posting for gaining Likes (even if not directly). So the quality will suffer and posers will get more satisfaction.

I really would like if they could get deinstalled again. Sorry for being that direct. The mechanism behind such "Likes" is that they create Dopamine in our brains and seem to be something great in the beginning, until – very few of us – recognise the above described problems. :-/

I thought this thread was going to be lists of favourite Mac-isms!

I have to agree with Mat - they are distracting at best, and offer no value to me.

teroyk like this

Sorry I wanted Like this...And it doesn't mean that I doesn't like messages that I don't put like.

Normally they are useless and I hope that people don't start think that you have to put Like to every good messages.
Or If you write long good messages and nobody put Like, it doesn't mean that nobody likes your message.

But in one one other forum that works well, it is way to thank that that message was useful right now or "+1"
