Title: 8500LE flashimg how-to... (small guide)
Post by: Andre Solomko on February 04, 2021, 04:24:38 PM
Hello fellows! In case someone  may find it interesting here is a small guide
1.8500LE may not be flashable in a "blind mode" like an adult 8500
2. You need a an AGP PC  or you can try with "graphicaccelerator" in VNC
3. I did it with freeDOS and it gives you weird messages just keep trying
4. -f command is mandatory in ATIFLASH.EXE
5. I attached a ROM with reduced memory clock (250/250)or you can make your own
6. I got a full HD resolution on 32" TV  what i use as a primary monitor. (huge improvement over stock apple's 9000) In this case second head won't display any image
7. On smaller monitor all works properly,
8, My card is Hercules 3D PRO  In case you wonder

And a small update. On second monitor you better use DVI cable, no adapter, Then you have a proper dual screen setup regardless of monitor size.

I flashed a sapphire card with ms-dos and it works, my only problem is that i am having artifacts (probably the gpu that is going to be dead) for the rest it works, i have both dvi and vga fully functional.
