Title: OS 9 sound volume
Post by: anton1203 on December 22, 2015, 12:05:11 PM
I bought imac g3 with installed OS X and there were no any issues
then I made clean OS 9 install and found that the lowest level of system sound is too loud. Middle position of the volume bar makes builtin speakers to groan. Is this some sort of common problem with imac g3's or I can fix it with software like on OS X?

Sure. As far as I remember there are actually two adjustments to make.
One is the overall system volume and the other is the individual loudspeaker volume. one for each loudspeaker.
All should be adjustable under the sound control panel.
Take a look.

What happened I think when you installed os9 is that the loudspeaker volume got to the highest (default) setting.
Under Mac OSX it's called the AudioMidi control panel as far as I remember where you can set the loudspeaker configuration and volume.
