Title: iBook G4 Resolution issue in 9.2.2
Post by: mgederberg on January 17, 2023, 08:32:10 AM

So I’ve got a G4 iBook 933 MHz PowerPC 7457, the PowerBook6,3 with ATI Mobility Radeon 9200 (4X AGP) with 32 MB of DDR SDRAM, right? I did the OF hack to get 9.2.2 on there and running. Monitors remain set to Millions of Colors but I cannot modify the setting for a larger screen res than 1024X768. It also appears that there is secondary monitor connected when there is not. Here is a video of the issue:

You could try using the ATI Jasper driver that darthnVader created (mentioned here (http://macos9lives.com/smforum/index.php/topic,4593.msg33157.html#msg33157), direct download (http://macos9lives.com/Drivers/ATI-Jasper2-Driver.sit)). It might not be the same chipset but it's worth a try.
The secondary monitor is a known quirk and you can adjust it/define your main monitor by following the steps under Video/Monitor Settings here (https://mac-classic.com/articles/mac-os-9-on-unsupported-systems/). If you're stuck on the lower resolution screen, switching to the main screen may help with resolutions too.

That iBook flat-panel display is 1024x768 native resolution.
If you want go with external monitor. I don't know if this third-party firmware hack helps also with OS9 (I don't have iBook)...At least it helps with OSX (I have seen some years ago):

Without that hack your iBook shows to external monitor same that flat-panel.

The chances are slim, but you might try Griffin SuperRes CP.

Super Res 1.1
Super Res is a control panel and control strip application that allows you to choose from a greater number of resolutions than would normally be available.
