Apple bought Astarte's DVDirector in 2000, re-releasing it as DVD Studio Pro in 2001. Version 1.5, still based on this original code, was released in April 2002. In the meantime Apple had acquired Spruce Technologies in 2001, and was busy retooling the DVD authoring package that came with that acquisition (DVD Maestro), and in August 2003, Apple released DVD Studio Pro 2. This new version was basically a completely new application, with a totally new interface. Since then, the program has grown to be the primary midrange software DVD creation package, Sonic Scenarist being the worldwide industry standard for professional DVD authoring. DVD Studio Pro 3 was released in 2004.

In April 2005, Apple updated DVD Studio Pro to support authoring HD content. DVD Studio Pro 4 allows for the burning of HD DVD content to both standard DVDs and HD DVD media (even though no HD DVD burners were currently available for Macintosh). For playing back HD DVD content burnt to a standard DVD, Apple requires a PowerPC G5, Apple DVD Player v4.6, and Mac OS X v10.4 or later. This was also the first version that did not include support for Mac OS 9.

    • QuickTime 4.1 (included on DVD Studio Pro CD) or later
    • 128 megabytes of RAM
    • A DVD drive
    • Display software and hardware capable of 1024 x 768 pixels at thousands or millions of colors
    • For writing to disc: DVD-R recorder, DVD-RAM drive, or DLT tape drive

Software requirements

    • Apple DVD Player 2.3 or later (installed with the DVD Studio Pro software)
    • Edited video and audio files in MPEG or AC-3 format; or video creation and editing software, such as Final Cut Pro or any video and audio editing programs that support QuickTime and its component technology
    • MPEG encoding software, such as the QuickTime MPEG Encoder included with DVD Studio Pro. (You can also use any MPEG encoder, software or hardware based, that produces DVD-compliant streams.)
    • Adobe Photoshop (version 4.0 or later) for creating menus and buttons

Hard disk requirements

    • You should have at least twice as much hard disk storage space as the size of your project. (For DVD-5, for example, you need 5 gigabytes [GB] for the source files, and another 5 GB to hold the multiplexed project.) For best multiplexing performance, dedicate two or three Ultra Wide A/V or FireWire hard disks to your project (make sure they contain only your media and no other programs that might fragment the disk and decrease performance). • If you have three disks, use one for video assets, one for audio assets, and the third for the finished files.
    • If you have two disks, use one for source assets and one for final files.

You can sure see how disc space is gonna add up fast... good thing drives have gotten as inexpensive as they have!! Makes me think back to when I paid $1049.00 for a 45MB drive for my MacPlus in '87...OUCH!!!!! ;D ;D

Got it from http://www.mediafire.com/download/av3t2eq5t2zz9i8/DVD_Studio_Pro_1.5.1.zip
Even though it was a zip, the forks for the Toast and SMI file were kept, so maybe you need OS X to unzip it properly.
Then when you open it asks for a serial, and you should enter in:
Whatever name and company name you want, and for the serial:
F-279-IGZ-171-QEC-349-JAB-352-UBG-342

And I can put all this into an SIT file so you don't need OS X to unzip the ZIP if you want.
edit here is the sit file with the CD, update and serial: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1GReq1RoViktMym0oqBx2UqOByQRF_yZr/view?usp=sharing
