Thank you, @Phlogios. You are right, 1.4 does everything needed in all platforms we saw, the game is maturing more and more quite nicely. :)

The reason I asked about 1.2 is because, maybe sometime in the future, we can look back at some of the older versions, and then go like "oooh, look how far this project has come! It used to be like THIS before!".

You can think of 1.2 etc. like a "photograph" for keeping good memories. :)

(By the way, on that link for 1.2, the actual downloaded file still seems to be 1.4.)

This is GOLD! I can't the amount of times I have searched everywhere for some documentation on a API I stumbled upon and found... Nothing.

Great job!

Nice initiative! Yes, this sort of work is very much needed for more and better Mac OS 9.2.2 development!

I myself wanted to do this way back in 2021, until things... happened. And life priorities shifted. But I always wanted to see an initiative like yours become reality.

It may not be fully fleshed out yet, but what you got is already incredibly helpful, and it is good enough to encourage others to get started on developing their own Mac OS 9 apps.

Currently I'm working on a REALbasic DR1r33 project (with help of later versions to target certain additional platforms), but after that I have plans for another project, and that will likely be in pure ANSI C89 / ISO C90 (while still conforming with K&R C), using probably Fantasm 6 and the final version of Apple's MrC compiler. Once that is ongoing, your page will be of great help, and I will gladly submit a merge (AKA pull) request to your Git repo if I think I can flesh out any of the sections there.

You may have a dead mainboard / motherboard...it's a possibility.

Have a look at this YT vid, similar symptoms and Nick found the issue was the mainboard.

Interesting video.

And after watching through it a few times I’m uncertain as to whether or not he actually replaced the original mobo with a different one in the end - OR if he actually put the original mobo back in, making certain to properly seat all of the mounting screws? (Especially that one screw that was not Apple original.) And that one in particular is important screw for the CPU daughtercard circuit. No stable, solid connection there? Then no power up. So yes, definitely DO check ALL mounting screws and Molex connectors. No complete circuit power through the CPU = no boot and shut down.

Also… not a CUDA button. But instead… a PMU reset button. They are different and PMU needs only a fraction of a second to be depressed for a reset. I often confuse this terminology too, coming from older Macs with a CUDA button.

AND no new heatsink paste applied, nor any anti-static procedures followed? :o

I have version 1.2 but I don’t see the point in preserving it as it is just a worse version of the game compared to later versions. The game is in active development and will be continuously improved, adding more compatibility, more stability and better performance. Version 1.2 does nothing that 1.4 does not do better. If I make breaking changes, I will write that in the release notes.

For history preservation's sake, I will again ask if, by any chance, anyone has version 1.2? It's the only version that wasn't archived in the Garden.

Perhaps @ovalking? @Bolkonskij? Anyone?

Mac OS 9 on Unsupported Hardware / Re: Mac Mini G4 + display oddities

Of possible relevance here … per darthnVader.

Mac Mini G4 pixel clock limited to 135Mhz   / April 1, 2018
https://macos9lives.com/smforum/index.php?topic=4337.msg30099#msg30099

Well, the same Dell 1920 x 1080 display works just fine with 1.5Ghz Mini in OSX Leopard. ;)

Besides,
* 1920 x 1080 Dell has 148.5 MHz pixel clock
* 1920 x 1200 Dell has 154.0 MHz pixel clock.

I'm curious where does the 135 MHz figure comes from.
