Pro Tools FREE provides the following capabilities:
• Record and play up to 8 tracks of digital audio (depending on the capabilities of your computer)
• Record and play up to 48 MIDI tracks
• Use non-linear, random-access editing and mix automation
• Process audio with up to 5 RTAS plug-ins per track, limited only by the capabilities of your computer
• Use up to 5 inserts and 5 sends per track
• Route up to16 busses
• Work with 16-bit or 24-bit sessions (depending on the capabilities of your audio hardware)

Pro Tools FREE uses your computer’s CPU to mix and process audio tracks (host
processing). Computers with faster clock speeds therefore yield higher track, insert,
and send counts, as well as more plug-in processing.

I got the SheepShaver OS 9 and it works. I installed PT5 Free, but when I start PT everything freezes on DAE? What to do?

none of the apps on our site will work with sheepshaver i dont think.
pro tools requires OMS midi to launch which sheepshaver is unable to provide as far as i know.
external midi outside of the emulator is not possible

im sorry but u need a real mac g4.

the only way for u to run PT5 free on a pc would be to install windows 98 or ME and install the windows version.. which would require u to have less then 512mb ram for win98.. 768mb for winME

pt may also require direct memory access which by my recall wasn't possible inside emulation

I've been using PT Free a lot lately on 17' 1Ghz Alu PowerBook with unsupported OS9 and its been quite useful working on some Prog drum stuff. I'm sure there are better ways but I'm most familiar with PT... after having some difficulties with some other methods, I just resorted to what I know. Trying to get a setup together to record some decent drum videos so will be doing some experimenting. I have a bunch of stuff but it always turns into a 'hoop jumping' fest integrating old/new tech...even connecting this to that... Fw 400-800-USB 1-2-3... Lightening- SD-CF-etc.!!Haha!;D
