if anyone can help me find the installer for this. i already have a crack for it.. (v2.8 )
but i would really like to find this version
which is reputed to be the best version before "cubase audio"
ie: 100% midi version

after this version the min. requirements went up alot and midi performance is thought to have decreased by some people

this version is supposed to be the best for midi with real lowend vintage pcs like 386, 486, pentium 1

lol..
yes its true..
but i am doing comparisons + experiments..
using different midi interfaces..
for example i have a parallel based device that im using now
the Portman 4x4/s

im interested in early 90s + mid 90s technology
comparing it to modern day..

if i had a centris or a quadra trust me i would be using that instead!!!
along with my opcode Studio 3 interface :)

in my room now i have an XP laptop.. T7200 cpu, 4GB ram max
and my macbook pro 2010 P8600 cpu 4GB ram (soon to be 16gb!)
and a sawtooth G4 400mhz
i dont have any serial port on this g4 at the moment untill i get it in the mail
then i will be testing this orange-micro grappler scsi/serial card combo

Anyone tested with VirtualPC, might work to play emulated SB16 FM-sounds?

I thinked more like use setup win98-midi-driver to command FM-synth in emulated SB16,
but if somebody want try ASIO4ALL to SB16 Audio, it might work with fast machine, but
it also needs newer Cubase Audio, Cubase 2.8 for windows is midi-only :)

Midi only is the best part

Tighter midi no latency lost to mros/emulation conflicts
