It's about time that happened, right? I wouldn't expect to ever see USB 3+ on OS9 but 2.0 should be doable.

It's completely doable, just aren't that many skilled OS 9 programers out of work. ;)
Apple never really offered as much example code and documentation as they did with OS X.

it would be an amazing development - but its not really neccessary because firewire IS the usb2.0 you are looking for.
