PowerTowerPro250 Invaild Resolution
« on: February 14, 2024, 10:52:15 PM »
Ok I would love some help.
I’ve the weekend I decided to try and get my 1997 PowerTowerPro250 with 96mbs of ram running 9.1 up & running. I wanted to get this going to get some files I no longer have access to, plus nostalgia and showing my kid what 90’s computers were like.

When  I first connected everything it sounded like it was booting fine but then the monitor said it wasn’t getting a signal.

So I took out the video card cleaned and replaced it  booted it  up and I had signal!!! Unfortunately as soon as it got past my custom start up screen  the monitor said Auto Detect “Auto Detect Analog Input
OUT OF RANGE SIGNAL.
CANNOT DISPLAY THIS VIDEO MODE, CHANGE COMPUTER DISPLAY INPUT TO
1680x1050@60Hz”

Do I switched to the other monitor
 It said

“Auto Detect(Analog Input)
Cannot Display This Video Mode Optimum resolution 1680X1050 60Hz”

Do then I connected it to my TV
It says “invalid format”

I reset the pram
Same

I reset the nvram
Same

Restart in safe mode
It boots All the way!
Photoshop4 loads! I play Wolfenstein  with my 10 year old. A ton of files no one knew still existed, the a book my dad was writing before he passed, every paper my brother wrote in high school  Terrible graphic design from my freshman year of college and even some super rare mp3s of unreleased hiphop,  all very exciting.

But you can’t open the monitor control panel in safe mode, so I open the extension manager turn it to 9.1 base and restart and I get invalid format again after the now 9.1 start up screen :(
So I restart in save mode and get back to the finder.

And this is where I need you all to help me with what extensions I need to turn off and on in order so I can change the current resolution and get out of safe mode.

Thanks a bunch
