I made a remote connection from OS 9.2.2 to an OSX 10.5 machine to transfer files. Now I want to disable that on the OS 9.2.2 machine. But if I don't have the OSX 10.5 machine on and connected the OS 9.2.2 machine hangs trying to connect. Even if I trash network drives it will still try to connect and hang on the next boot. As soon as I allow the OSX 10.5 machine to connect the OS 9.2.2 will finish booting. I am pretty sure there are some preference files I need to delete. The last time I needed to do this was 10 years ago and I don't remember. I'm pretty sure the answer is buried somewhere on this page, I just can't find it. http://www.applefool.com/se30/

Very nice comprehensive page !
If you search for «• System hangs before loading control panels», you will find a small issue section when it is suggested to boo with extensions disabled (with shift) and to delete 2 configuration files. I cannot comment if it is exactly what you need but it sounds like what you are looking for.

It sounds like you checked the box which makes it connect during boot.
I think the file you need to delete is Appleshare Prep.

Someone in the FB group found the solution.
I deleted the shortcuts that were in System Folder >Servers and that did it.
