I'm quite new in the Galaxy section, and my first impression is:
It's very heartening to witness all of the people in this Galaxy Plus Editors Section, whom are able, to configure the installation using the real OMS as underlayment. The part I am unable to fathom, is that:
Once the user is ready to work, there is no creating or opening any file, without the insertion of the All-Important-Master Floppy Disk. From where are the "bad-boys" showing up. Mine, and all my colleagues' who actually paid the full price of the initial, programs and all of their upgrades, are stuck with the below:
• A Master Disk which report fatal irreparable errors
• Files as old as their initial Yamaha TX81Z Stand-Alone Editor, which
• due to having been upgraded to the last version of Galaxy,
• will only open in the last version of Galaxy
Were there any such way to obtain:
• Additional "Authorizations" or even just
• A reliable floppy, which could RETRIEVE,
• mine, the LAST AUTHORIZATION on earth, (that I know of),
• so that I could port it, to my WORKING OS9.2.2 Machine,
I would love to find and purchase the item, were it an affordable.
for floppy authorizations u will need a usb floppy drive
and u need to follow the instructions from whichever manufacturer of floppy drive u get to get it up + working
and then additionally install this
http://web.archive.org/web/20021013212308/http://www.opcode.com/downloads/fixes/usb_enabler_v2_0.hqxusb floppy enabler extension.. that makes it compatible with authorizations etc
i thought the opcode installers were all made freeware when opcode closed doors + posted on the opcode WEBsite (not FTP) this can be viewed with the wayback machine. pointed at opcode.com and around the time period of 2000-2002.. i think 2002-2003 actually
the last entry in the wayback machine for opcode.com (by gibson/original opcode company)
is dated april 7th 2005.. the domain expired after that and was purchased by another company
http://web.archive.org/web/20050407023543/http://www.opcode.com/here is the link to see the backup from that specific date april 7th 2005
if u view the page:
http://web.archive.org/web/20050403205547/http://www.opcode.com/downloads/it says that "downloads are provided as a courtesy for those people who have copies demanding challenge codes." meaning that the authorization codes had been removed from these versions..
unfortunately it seems that they did not post a link to the galaxy installers
other floppy drives that will work for authorizations are listed here by digidesign:
