Title: Pro Tools 5.0.1 Crashing Issue
Post by: laserdisc on November 10, 2021, 09:44:22 AM
Hello! I recently got a dual-867 MDD G4 with the hopes of using it for DAW purposes. Dual Booting Tiger and OS 9.2.2 from the universal install hosted here (after struggling with an install disc I acquired myself).

I then purchased a Digi001 off ebay and it came with Pro Tools LE 5.0.1, which I installed alongside OMS. I haven't installed the PCI card just yet.

For some reason, trying to open Pro Tools just freezes the computer entirely; I need to Force Quit or hard shutdown.

I see that Digidesign may have once had a fix for this, but it's no longer hosted on their "archive" downloads site. I've also tried deleting the 'Multiprocessing' extension since that's also been a potential problem area according to my searches.

Any thoughts? I'm very excited to get everything together at last.

Hi - I'm not too sure how useful my thoughts will be on this but I definitely remember having a problem like this when I first fired up my Digi001.  (Incidentally, if you haven't watched the hour long promo video on Youtube, it is good for a few laughs).

I just fired up my machine and it looks as though I'm running 5.1.1 with my digi001 so it's probably worth heading to the dl boards and seeing if you can get that running.  If I remember correctly, though, my crashing had to do with OMS in some way. I think that I trashed the pref files and then re-built my system setup.

I know that I had the same issue at one time - unfortunately, I can't remember the exact solution.  Give the 5.1.1 version a try, though.

D.

Here is the LE 5.1.1

NOTE: The Download Folder also contains the Update Pro Tools LE 5.2.1cs1 that you apply after installing 5.1.1, this will upgrade ProTools and increase the number of simultaneous audio tracks from 24 to 32 !

We also have all the diagnostics for the G4, so you can rule out memory or other issues:
