Title: Dead men do walk: Sonnet Tempo 133 in Thunderolt-3 on Mojave.
Post by: (S)ATAman on January 24, 2020, 03:07:07 PM
Driver not installed because it wasn't ported *** yet ***
So far, looks good.
This is a completely erased Promise card for Sonnet, labeled as ATA/133.

Good news because finally I do not depend on the MDD where unfleshed UNFLASHED cards do not show up in the PCI or Open Firmware.

(Corrected  - ROFL)

Wish the PCI-X to PCIe cards would be common.
Had to get the lesser one because it is quite common for 20-30 Bucks.
The sellers of 3124 cards which were made under "Steelwine" name by SImage or by third-parties as PCIe "bridged" card (PCIe 4x) try to sell that old stuff for more, than an 8 or 16-channel LSI SAS card does cost.

Q: "does your card support Windows 10"
A: "No"
Q: "what is the highest version of MacOS your card does support?"
A: "10.9.8"
Q: "does your card support 64-bit version of Windows?"
A: "No"
Q: "does your card support 6GBit SATA?"
A: "No"

Q: "Than why you sell it for $199.99?"
A: "..."

Update: updated the PATA driver for Mojave - Catalina.
They start, but do not do a very good job, the problem is with the Chinese bridge bought on cheap.

The experiment of the opposite (Chinese bridge + AHCI PCIe card on G4) failed, too.
But the Taiwanese bridge seem to work.

The promising result (no Kernel Panic) is here:

http://macos9lives.com/smforum/index.php/topic,5385.0.html

So if you want to run Catalina and Sonnet Promise cards, don't try to save $10 on the bridge board, it won't work.
For the future it means: I have to buy the "real thing" from Taiwan and spend extra, the el Cheapo bridge is electronic waste.
