The "Promise" "Sonnet" FT UltraTek/100/133 cards beat all common PATA cards. And as I see they non-Mac versions are quite common.
Since I have the permit from Sonnet... I guess, this will kill the rest.
I can upload the factory flasher for these Promise cards any time, just tell me where.
i have a few of these cards that i bought from ebay in the last year
i have a 100 + a 133.
id love to test that flasher out.
files up to 60mb can be attached to any forum post
this is seriously a great thing;)
The problem is that such a card in it's PC form can't be seen on the PCI bus of the G4 MDD at all.
I have no problem to "see" them in my 2009 "flashed 2012" dual processor MacPro via a PCI - PCIe adapter.
But for some reason not on the dual 1 GHz MDD 400 FireWire, not even in Open Firmware.
Is it a known problem?
I remember, that when we made these cards, the pre-production was flashed from PC to Mac on Sawtooth or even earlier.
In the mean time I got quite a few Promise cards, too.
This part of "rejuvenation" looks rather easy - once I have the proper computer.
If not, I will make them work on Intel, but you will need to either have a Hackintosh with PCI slots or have the PCI-PCIe adapter which works.
I got the "other" adapter (from PCIe card to PCI computer) few days ago - it makes a Kernel Panic in everything "X" on the access to PCIe.
But the card inside can be seen in Open Firmware. Even an NVMe drive.
