I'm searching for old versions (1.x) of OMS...
Anyone?
Thanks in advance.
-
Is it because you want to test out that redraw thing I posted about?
-
This was released somewhere between '95-'97 or so. As early as late 1997 version 2.0 came out. I think the best chance of finding it is to discover which old products were bundled with it. There's probably a copy on there.
-
I have some old stuff lying around. Will check this weekend.
Greetz,
Arjen
-
I have it on an old Computer Music CD somwhere. Need to dig through some stuff first, though :)
-
Thank you all, for the answer.
I want the 1.x version of OMS for several reasons. First to check the "redraw thing" that Syntho had posted about it, and second to try to find a more recent version of "OMS (Apple) MIDI manager Driver". The version which I have, come with OMS v 1.0 !!
Thankx in advance.
-
Hi,
I have searched on my old cdroms for the 1x version. Unfortunately even on my old software memoires the OMS version is 2.3.8. :-\
Greetz,
Arjen
-
Thanks Arjen.
-
Even I have searched high and low for older software Cd's -
found an old Macwarez cd if anyone interested but no oms vs 1
Sorry Mactron
-
I've uploaded my old software archives to the FTP server for all who are searching software published before 2000. Starting from Cubase 2.5, Orange Vocoder, Pluggo etc. Unfortunately no OMS 1.x but maybe some other stuff you're searching for.
Greetz,
Arjen
-
I have looked too. No OMS 1.x... :(
-
Thank you everybody!
...perhaps someday it appears, hidden on a forgotten installer...
-
I'm working on it. I'll report back.
-
Ask and ye shall receive -afro-
-
OK, Thank You. I'm going to try it out...
-
You can download the OMS 1.2.3 version in this site: h t t p : / / w w w .rcsprogramming.com/MidiToolz/downloadz.html
You have the file also in the yahoo opcode users group
Greetz,
-
Finally I have achieved OMS 1.23 from two different sources (Syntho and Irisman)
Thank you all.

Hi Arjen, thanks for addition. :)
There are some .sit files that are password protected; I tried with the BBS name, but no success ¿do you know the pw? Thanks in advance!
-
HI,
Glad you like my old stuff! I've been using those files starting from my Macintosh ED, LC etc. So should be perfect for your 7600 & midi.
Unfortunately I don't have any passwords. It's a collection of software from various (floppy disk) sources. ::)
However most of the files are unprotected.
Greetz,
Arjen
PS: If someone wants place these images in the download section; go ahead. I haven't figured out how to do that. These files are great for all who are working on < G3 500 mhz machines.

Irisman if you're looking for some more old stuff download the MacWarez CD in my folder.
Tons of stuff there as well.

Irisman if you're looking for some more old stuff download the MacWarez CD in my folder.

It seems to be missing.

I´m interested in that CD; could you plz reupload it to the FTP?
-
Its already up there in the folder just with Jakl.
Can the admin fix this - thanks.
Asked Chris to fix this if he can - hopefully soon.
-
Are you using the adrive web version or an actual FTP client?
-
a-drive sometimes has a weird way of working...
Sorry for the inconveniences.
I think It is fixed already...
-
actually downloading the macwarez toast cd :) Thanks!

Thanks MacTron. :)

Did that redraw thing clear up when using the old version?
-
MacTron?

Did that redraw thing clear up when using the old version?
why dont u test it yourself and see if its important to you?
not trying to be a smart ass;) but seriously! ;)
these types of problem solving things take a bit of effort.. u really
have to have a vested interest to have the oomph to push thru and solve + test for what matters to you!
-
Yes, the problem seems to persist with the older version.
... and Chris is right...
furthermore two testers are always better than one :)
-
That's just plain weird. I wonder if there's a fix for this.
-
have u been reading any of hte posts ive been making lately?
if u are referring to slowdowns in cpu/video due to midi i think u should more closely examine the post that i made in the general discussion about the most powerful system 7 machine.. about the article i found from hinton instruments, it gives insight into the midi subsystem..underlying framework of how serial data is received and processed..and why it would cause cpu hiccups + delays. because the code to process the midi is actually early 90's 68k code being run in some type of emulation mode simulating a 68k cpu on a powerpc cpu.. because they didnt redesign fully the midi system.. and a large portion of why they didnt do that is because they were under attack frm APPLE RECORDS a record label whom they had signed legal agreements not to get involved in any area of music production or recording!!!! and they were being sued by these people around the same time which would explain the lack of a redesign of the midi system. this is why they stopped developing the app "midi manager" from system 6
when they designed system 7... anyways this would point blame at the midi/serial subsystem itself not so much oms.
which midi interface are u using syntho?
didnt u say u were using logic? so i assume u have a unitor8 or amt8?
are u using midi over usb? or direct to geoport/serial port?
-
I recieved a number of 1.44mb floppies with my opcode interfaces.. the studio 128x, the 64xtc, and the studio 3 are the ones i have.
the oldest version of oms on these disks seems to be v2.1 which is 2x1.44mb
and then 2.3.6 which is also 2x1.44mb and then there is a studio patches 1x1.44mb
and another driver disk for windows 3.1/95 etc
i dont have a mac with a floppy drive tho i would have to get a usb floppy,
jerry had said he was going to send me one but he did not!
heres a full list of the 1.44mb disks i have and the info from the labels on the disks:
- Studio 128X PC Disk (Windows 3.1, Windows 95) Driver Version 1.02 (1998)
- Studio 128X Help Disk for the Macintosh (1998-1999)
- OMS For Macintosh (Disk 1 of 2) Version 2.3.6 (1998-1999)
- OMS For Macintosh (Disk 2 of 2) Version 2.3.6 (1998-1999)
- Studio Patches Manual (1996-1999)
- OMS (Disk 1 of 2) Version 2.1 (1990-1996)
- OMS (Disk 2 of 2) Version 2.1 (1990-1996)
-
have u been reading any of hte posts ive been making lately?
Yes, I did.
...but this seems to be "another" different issue because the redraw slow down only occurs when "OMS setup" app is open, so just close it and the problem disappear. Easy solution to a minor problem :)
-
now that u mentiond it, why would u even wnat the oms set up open while you are using the app??????
its a pre-configuration step to configure all your ins + outs of your midi routing..
the only possible reason why i can think of is to change the routing... but theres a patchbay app that directly changes the routing in my opcode device..
oms setup not required..
i just re-read synthos original thread.. http://macos9lives.com/smforum/index.php?topic=1031.msg4024#msg4024
-

I don't know. LOL
Syntho?
My main interest on OMS 1.x was because this versions include the compatibility file for Apple Midi Manager and this file can be used with "modern" versions of OMS.
-
did u see that video i posted about the history behind midi manager being dropped?? because of a lawsuit from 'apple records' vs 'apple computer'
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/music/music-news/8136469/Apple-vs-Apple-long-running-legal-dispute-delayed-Beatles-iTunes-deal.html
It began more than 30 years ago in 1978 when Apple Corps filed a lawsuit against Apple Computer for trademark infringement.
The legal action was settled in 1981 for a sum that was estimated to be up to $250million but turned out to be just $80,000.

I haven't saw the video yet. But I know well this history...
I always be a fan of Apple Midi Manager. It was light years ahead of OMS, Free Midi, Midi Share... If the development of Apple Midi Manager wasn't canceled, those never can leave to be the "crapware" that they were at the beginning, and still are... IMHO of course...
-
It's because SoundDiver also causes the slowdown, and that stays open.
-
as i said earlier in this thread i have oms 2.1 on 2x floppy 1.44mb
i want to extract these but i have no usb floppy drive from which to access it on a mac and
none of my macs have floppy drives..
is there anyway i can image the floppies on an x86 windows system?
is there any hack ways for me to connect a floppy to a g4?
any pci based floppy controller for mac? LOL
-
I used a program called "macopener" years ago on a windows machine. But maybe a "raw data disk read" kinda "iso image" for your disks may be more useful.
-
i think i will just have to find a usb floppy.. :o

I've got lots of older stuff like this, but I need to figure out the best ways of backing up my many floppies. While I still can!

see this thread where i retreived my disks via a windows machine with a floppy and this winimage program. i stil lhavnet finished this tho i never accessed the actual filename.ima image files on a mac yet..i have yet to confirm it works to do so but i think they are supposedly able to be mounted on the mac desktop same as a diskcopy image. but was able to get the files directly off using the pc to read them with this mac reading app and extractthe files directly to my afp fileserver
-
wasnt there a post made on this forum where someone had posted approximate dates for the versions of oms?
if everyone helped to check the date of the files we could make an index or reference of different oms driver versions to refer to
-
Hey guys,
the Studio 3 Driver is missing from the OMS 1.1.3 install/hqx
has anybody seen it? Because the one from 1.2.3. won't work with 1.1.3
(running a SE wit OS 6.0.1)
