Title: WTB: SoundDiver 3
Post by: Syntho on February 14, 2014, 02:34:52 AM
SoundDiver is really difficult to find. There's a copy protection on the CD where you can't copy it, so it won't work unless you have the original CD.

If you have a copy and are willing to sell it, please let me know.

I don't believe this will work though. SoundDiver uses a weird copy protection on the CD itself and it hasn't been cracked for Mac, only for Windows. But maybe I'm wrong?

These are all img files and they seem to be in a weird format. How should I go about using these?

Are these .img for macos9 disk copy?
I recall when apple released the beta sound diver 3.1 for macos x
you needed the logic key to use it not sure if this is the case here?

I'll download the files and then test -
thanks so much to post these here.

Only downloaded the version 3 CD file 3.0.4, 3.0.5.2,
used toast image format to open the .img upgrade files
and then tried to open the app but couldn't - it still required
the CD to be present even though I wrote the CD image
on my snow 10.6.8 system and installed it successfully
onto the Macos9 system. I'll download the beta version
and see if that works with logic pro 6 blue usb key.

Hey All
All of the images should open using Disk Copy 6.4 on OS 9.2.2 except:

SoundDiver 3.0.0 Manuals
SoundDiver 3.1.0 Beta 1
SoundDiver 3.1.0 Beta 2

They are for OSX and Require a Logic Pro/Express XSKey to Run
Note: There is a Crack for SoundDiver 3.0 out there but I do not have it..... Anyone?
Version 2.1.3 of this archive has a crack

SD3.0 works on windows, it's been cracked since long ago, however I'm not sure if this SD3 disk image that you supplied will work on OS9. You're saying that it won't work, correct?

I remember hotline from over 10 years ago. Was great at the time!

Is that a dongle emulator?

Is there any contact info for the person who runs the server? We should probably contact him and let him know we need it for our archives!

Here's a funny story about Hotline:

There was a badass server with lots of stuff on it and it was hard to get in. The admin only popped in every few days or so and you could only get an account by talking to him directly and paying like a $50 fee. You couldn't start a conversation with an admin if you weren't a member, so new people would have to hang around the server for days and wait for the admin to message them.

One time I saw this guy hanging around the server for an entire week straight, monitoring the users window so he could see the admin pop on and not miss his chance at an account. Well that time finally comes, and the admin pops on.

Considering that there was no way to message an admin, the guy used a cool trick to get the admin's attention. He started changing his username, in this order:

"John"
"Hey, admin!"
"Hey, message me!"
"Account needed!"
"Come on message me!"
"PLEASE message!"

Then the admin LEFT 30 seconds later. The guy then changed his username to,

"SON OF A BITCH!!!"

Thanks MacTron
I gave the patcher a shot but it complains that the Data Fork is not what was expected
I'm wondering if SoundDiver has to be authorized already then when you run the Patcher it will create a new App
that doesn't need to be authorized. We are kind of in a Catch 22 if that's the case.

You are the Man regardless
Makes me wonder what other goodies you've got stashed away.

Does anybody have the SoundDiver 3.0.1 update? it's missing from my archive

Anyone with access?

Enabler, does this message mean:

a) that this is the source of all of these files that u uploaded? and you are enthusiastically asking if anyone other than yourself has access to the service frm which u have benefited from?

 or

b) simply that you were searching for this one specific file and have found it on their system, but!! u do not have required access to download the tiny update file
Title: Re: WTB: SoundDiver 3

I used Wired Client on OSX to search for the SoundDiver crack and it's on MAJOR MAC BACKUP
The longest running Hotline server & still running today.

I do not have access to MAJOR MAC BACKUP but we need that SoundDiver 3.0.1 crack
We also need the official SoundDiver 3.0.1 update from Emagic. That file is missing from my Anthology

From what I remember, you had to hang around on a hotline server and contact an admin somehow. Are we able to get on there and wait around for an admin, or is it not possible to connect at all?
Title: Re: WTB: SoundDiver 3
Post by: Syntho on February 18, 2014, 08:12:39 AM
Ok it seems they want money to get it. For 1 week's access it's $50. What I want some of you to do is download a hotline client and connect to the server. Once connected, make a note of any and every file that we may need for the FTP. Once I've got a list together, I'll buy an account, connect, download what we need and put it on the FTP.

I think 1 week's access would be enough time to grab what we need. I'm not sure the sounddiver crack even works, but there may be a bunch of other stuff on there that we need.

What do you say?
Title: Re: WTB: SoundDiver 3

why is this update so important?

ok DUH its not an update its a crack..
ok its both LOL xD

whats the update so important for? curious.. does it enable something previously not available?
Title: Re: WTB: SoundDiver 3
Post by: Syntho on February 18, 2014, 08:18:07 AM
Well, it enables us to use SD at all since it's a crack! But the update itself I don't know, probably bug fixes and so on.
Title: Re: WTB: SoundDiver 3
Post by: Enabler on February 18, 2014, 08:29:55 AM
Well the way things usually work with a crack is that you need the real file to patch or install whatever support files are needed.

anyone want to outline for us simple folks how to connect to the server to see?
Title: Re: WTB: SoundDiver 3
Post by: Syntho on February 18, 2014, 08:43:17 AM
I didn't get an account yet. Upon further investigation, there's an account for $14 for two days. That seems reasonable seeing as I've been looking for an original SoundDiver copy for MULTIPLE years.

I don't know if the crack even works... but it may be worth a shot, so I thought I'd grab some other stuff while I'm at it to make up for it if it doesn't.

I'm connecting using a Windows client called Hotline Connect 1.8.5. There are OS9 and OSX clients too. Download any working client and type in 'mac backup' in the search, and connect to the server. Then click the Files/Directory icon and browse the available files.
Title: Re: WTB: SoundDiver 3
Post by: supernova777 on February 18, 2014, 08:46:13 AM
ok but wheres the server? does it have a web page?
u surely must have an ip address or something that i dont have ?
Title: Re: WTB: SoundDiver 3
Post by: Syntho on February 18, 2014, 08:48:30 AM
In any hotline client you can just type 'mac backup' in the server search, but the address to connect to it directly to get the info is 199.126.231.14:1111 - that's the free/info server. Click the directory/files icon on hotline, browse to a folder called "MMB 4TB Database" and there's a bunch of subfolders in there.

A OS9 Miracle just happened!!!!!!!!!!! MacTron is God like......... -afro-

Read This Carefully... This is why it's important to save every update like I have

Tested & confirmed working! :-X

So here is what to do to make sure you have all the support files:
1) Install version SoundDiver 3.0.0 CD.img from my archive
2) Run the SoundDiver 3.0.4 Update from my archive

Take a deep breath, bliss is just moments away:
At this point you should have a folder on the top level of your Hard Drive named SoundDiver 3.0 ƒ
with version 3.0.0 & 3.0.4 inside it with all Docs and support files

3) Copy over SoundDiver 3.01 & SoundDiver 3.0.1 Authorizer from MacTron's post
into your SoundDiver 3.0 ƒ on the Hard Drive.

4) Launch MacTron' SoundDiver 3.0.1 Authorizer and when it asks, locate MacTron's SoundDiver 3.01 file
that you previously copied over to your SoundDiver 3.0 ƒ. The Authorizer will patch MacTron's original file
creating a new version call "SoundDiver 3.0 Authorizer" that can authorize your Hard Drive.

5) Launch your Newly created app "SoundDiver 3.0 Authorizer" and when it first boots it will ask you to Authorize your Hard Drive Hit the authorized button and SoundDiver will launch.

6) Now that your Hard Drive is authorized you can run the later version SoundDiver 3.0.4

7) We even have version 3.0.5 Beta that you can run but you will have to manually update your SoundDiver 3.0 ƒ
by dragging over the updated files. Keep version 3.0.4 in case 3.0.5 is whacky

Note 1:
In step 4) you might have noticed that your newly created patched version is named "SoundDiver 3.0 Authorizer" not 3.01
This is why MacTron's original post did not work. This patch needs an original 3.01 version to work but the name is labeled 3.0
And of course unlucky us that particular version happens to be missing from my archive. But MacTron saved the day... Thank you

Note 2:
There is one more missing file from the archive and that is SoundDiver 3.0.5.1
it had updated adaption files for some instruments. Out on the internet it was called sd3051.sit

Wow!
SoundDiver for OS9 was lost & buried but together MacOS9Lives resurrected it.
Nice Job Gentlemen

Ooh and one more thing:
Before Emagic moved to the XSKey they used these copy-protected CD's that were a pain in the Ass!
This also was the same for EXS-24, EVP-88 ect.......
Every blue moon the Application would ask for you to insert the CD just to make sure that you are the owner.
So you may have to repeat this whole authorizing process once in a while.

Hi All,
I'm new to this trail, but found it very interesting to read. Would like to try myself to get SD working on my old G4 machine as i have read a lot of enthousiastic comments about the program.
I tried to follow the steps as posted by Enabler but was stuck in step 3 "Copy over SoundDiver 3.01 & SoundDiver 3.0.1 Authorizer from MacTron's post into your SoundDiver 3.0 ƒ on the Hard Drive". Both SD 3.0.1 seem no longer available for download. Can someone please help me by pointing me to a place where I can download these files!

Thanks!

I finally got it working. I've managed to edit some voices on my old Yamaha synth through SD already, so it should be working OK!

It's amazing to see that over 10 years since OS-9 was replaced with X, support and help for OS-9 can still be found here!
Big thanks to all the people that make this possible! :)

the how to by "enabler" is perfectly right.

so this means you have to keep a copy of the 3.0 install – because you will have to repeat the procedure every few months or so.

One could also make note of the time you authorized Diver. If the CD failed, the time could be set back. Alternatively, run without a battery and authorize, so its always booting midnight on the same ancient date. That's what I do. My CD sits unused. File dates do get confused. Logic 5&6 need a later date to launch. I've never had a machine performance issue doing this. Sound diver...What a jewel of a program!

How would I go about getting Version 2.1.2 to open? I downloaded the CD img and burned it to a CD using an OS X iMac. (As the computer this is for can't access the internet)

I got it to install but says it needs the master disk? All of the regular img files won't mount on my OS X system to burn.

Title: Re: WTB: SoundDiver 3
Post by: supernova777 on June 07, 2015, 05:52:50 AM
i just downloaded it on my MDD and im extracting it fine..... whats the problem? is it the .img file within the .sit file u are having trouble mounting?

i thought it was just my filetype that was screwed.. because it was associated with Graphic Converter (img)
but even changing the file type to "dimg, ddsk" and it still does not mount .. gives a -8816 error

so it would appear these files are damaged and need to be fixed..

i could repackage it with some help frome enabler..?

the archive should also include the original 3.0 cd .img which it does not

*** the 3.05 beta img did open for me after changing its filetype with filetyper but this still shouldnt be required to be done by everyone who downloads this
and it asks for the 3.0 cd to be inserted...which is missing frm the archive so this file is completely useless in its present state

actually it may be that this just needs better directions
i just used the "3.0 alt authorizer" on the 3.01 file and it has opened up sound diver..
ive never used this app so i cant realy confirm anymore yet

Turns out that package was seriously weird / messed up. As I recall, I succeeded with it by NOT following any instructions in the read-me.

You need to install OMS - preferably first, and create your Studio setup file. Soundiver will be looking for it the first time you run it.

THEN:

1. Unstuff the download
2. Open the 3.0.4 / 3.0.5 folder - The 3.0.4 img is f---ed up but you don't need it anyway.
3. Mount the 3.0.5 img with Toast  (Toast Titanium 5 can be found here: http://macintoshgarden.org/apps/toast-5-titanium)
3. Drag the 3.0.5 version only out to the main folder
4. Make a new "storage" folder for all of the other versions and put them in there so that 3.0.5 is the only version at the top level next to the authorizers.
5. Launch the 3.0 authorizer (NOT the app) and it will authorize 3.0.5 - you skip all the previous ones - I don't know anything about the "alternate authorizer" - I didn't need it.
6. All the data files and stuff you need are already installed in the "Diver" folder - everything should work - just keep all of it together in the main Soundiver folder.
7. From now on, you launch the app from the 3.0.5 app file. You can make a 3.0.5 alias to put elsewhere if you want.

Every now and then you'll be asked to re-authorize Soundiver. Just launch the authorizer again.

Piece 'o cake!

Title: Re: WTB: SoundDiver 3
Post by: IIO on July 03, 2016, 08:23:00 AM

i´ve always used a patched 304 to reauthorize 305.

but i also own a legit copy; sounddiver was one of classic cases of "buy it but install the crack", because noone wants to fiddle with various optical media during creative work.

there is another reason why it might be so hard to get a license second hand: sounddiver is somehow essential and unique, and it is almost impossile to migrate to a newer app. so many people just keep their copy to use it with their old grear.

it is a matter of taste - and also depends on the gear you need to control - but in my opinion cubase, unisyn or the later midiquest (which is a mess of a computer code assemblement and contains even more bugs than sounddiver did) could never compete.

an OSX user in the need of control over post-2003 hardware might eventually want to get into http://ctrlr.org/ (http://Ctrlr) and build his own stuff today (or in my case, max/msp or supercollider).

running an old OS9 notebook only for sounddiver side by side with another computer stops beeing fun when you need that on a daily basis, for example in conjuntion with DAW projects or on stage.

SoundDiver 2.1.2 CD.img Is the file name. It was uploaded here long ago but was lost in a crash, unless someone archived it. I’m pretty sure Enabler has it sitting around.

After trying on both OS8 and OSX, im pretty sure this copy protection thing is giving me the error. Maybe I can copy it using something else. Hmm...

Update: what I’m looking for isn’t the CD itself, but a Soundiver 2 “Master Disk” which I imagine was a key/authorization floppy diskette. This has got to be floating around somewhere...

We have a working v3 in downloads.

Is there a special reason you need v2?

I’ve just been using it forever, and it’s compatible with older System 7 Macs.

I didn’t even realize it but SD2 at one time had a key diskette, which I’m on the hunt for. That must’ve been for early 2.0 versions. Later on they switched to the cdrom for authorization.

I have found in my archives of old software the following files :

SoundDiver 2.1.2 (Installer from CD and Patch)
https://we.tl/t-U7Il3RuIh3

SoundDiver 3.0.1 (Original app and Cracked app)
https://we.tl/t-vbE8TKW4Ke

I never tested them but maybe someone is interested in these files and will try them.
Good luck  ;)

Sounddiver 3.1 public beta readme:
https://www.deepsonic.ch/deep/docs_manuals/emagic_apple_sounddiver_v.3.1_public_beta_readme.pdf
say that "Whereas the Mac OS 9 version is still using the SoundDiver 3.0 CD copy protection"
Has anybody tested version 3.1 public beta 1 (not 2) in Mac OS 9?

Would be very interested in that 2.1.2 copy. I have 2.0.3 but most of the libraries I need are missing from my copies. Tried using my complete 3.0 libraries but no success with them. Would like to have it for editing an Emu sampler using my Mac Quadra 700

if you want it working, use 305 cracked.

if you want to legalize it, get a 3.x copy for windows, because you wont find many offers for mac nowadays. :)

I have a copy of 3.05 for PPC. This is why I’m glad I got myself an G3 laptop for the few things like this that come up. Learned it’s impossible to stick to one Mac in my studio lol.

ps. btw you can use your XSKey/USB Dongle for SoundDiver. My Blue XSKey for Logic 7 works with SoundDiver 3.

I can confirm thanks to this archive I have a fully working Sound Diver 2.1.3 with a patch I found from Macintosh Gardens PPC-68K Audio Collection. Thank you once again for finding this archive! We should have a redundant copy of this on this site.

Can you please post here attached?

Going this route of installing 2.12, upgrading to 2.13 and then patching works well, however not all modules work without crashing (MKS50, JD990, SQ80)
I guess this is a limitation of the crack, but if anyone has other experience, info would be welcome!

SoundDiver 3.1.0 Beta 1
...
They are for OSX and Require a Logic Pro/Express XSKey to Run

Actually I found info about SoundDiver 3.1.0 Beta 1:
"Mac OS 9 version is still using the SoundDiver 3.0  CD copy protection"
Does somebody have that Beta 1 version?

Reason why I looking for Sound Diver 3.1.0 Beta1 is that it should support some midi controllers that version 3.0.5 does not.

my rusty memory claims that it might be either OSX only or the "update" was only a bundle of updated adas. but it could be wrong.

Beta1 is MacOS9 compatible, if we can trust Beta2 readme. Beta1 was available for download short time before Beta2 came available.

It was also available here Mac OS 9 Lives!, so I bet somebody of us have it, but archive.org does not have it.

Title: SOUNDDIVER ARCHIVES 1.5.4 - 2.1.2 - 2.1.3
Post by: coachla on December 16, 2023, 06:29:21 PM
1.5.4 is fully unlocked. You need not do anything else. It''s of course pre-OMS and definitely runs on a real modem or printer port. I used it on a Centris 650, then on a 7100, 8100 and 9100 very smoothly,  even running side by side with Unison 1.5. Possibly it will work with a G4 stealth port, not so sure about Keyspan emulators. It does run on 9.2.2.

The other version 2 files were on .img files so I stuffed them with Stuff Lite. You need a floppy Auth for those however. I didn't see any hidden Auth files. I never used these version 2 files.

Regarding the 3.1 versions. Beta 1 is graphically unpredictable and generally undesirable. Beta 2 is what you want if you don't mind losing all the work you do. Lots of surprises. Good luck in your research.

UPDATE : Added Auth Patch for 2.1.3 only

This has the look of version 2.0 which obviously cannot be chosen in the preferences.
