Title: Missing Serial Number on iBook
Post by: Europa on March 18, 2020, 05:56:29 PM
I was looking through the system profiler on my iBook and it has no serial number listed. What would be the cause of this? I've attached the product info section of the system profiler.

Could possibly have had the motherboard replaced one time in its life by a authorized apple repair center and not apple themselves. Hence the missing serial number

That makes sense, especially because of the track record of these iBooks. :)

ASP shows the SN on my iBook G3 300. It does not on my B&W G3 350 or PM8500 G3.
Where does it get the SN from?

I believe it's burned into the ROM from the factory, so your B&W and 8500 likely have replacement boards that didn't have the SNs burned into them.
