Title: Studiocore-32 Lexicon Drivers
Post by: Syn-Fi on October 31, 2017, 04:14:17 AM
hi,
has anyone managed to get this card working in a G4?  No problems in a G3 but it does not seem to work on a G4.
There maybe an early beta release for G4 out there. Lexicon do not have it, thats for sure.

lets get the facts straight here... you have made a mistake in the title of this post that is incorrect match for this product.
the proper title for the entire package is simply : "Lexicon Studio"
(u can verify this by checking any of hte documentation and looking at the logo
https://3e7777c294b9bcaa5486-bc95634e606bab3d0a267a5a7901c44d.ssl.cf2.rackcdn.com/product_documents/documents/1045_1340210430/Studio_User_Guide_310_original.pdf)

the name "Core 32" applies to the PCI card, as expressed in this opening statement of the following article
""There are three hardware components to the Lexicon Studio: the Core-32 PCI card (1), PC-90 daughter board (2) and the LDI-12T interface. (3)" (source : http://www.mixonline.com/news/others/lexicon-studio-desktop-audio-hardware/369984)

so "studiocore-32" should be removed frm the title of this thread to avoid any further confusion or wasted effort googling the wrong title.

the original "Mk1" version of the Lexicon Studio is a product that was rolled out originally in Spring of 1998, https://web.archive.org/web/20000301051139/http://www.lexicon.com:80/Studio/homeframe.htm (MacOS 8.1 was the current OS to put that into perspective retrospect) so that would mean of course it was never tested for G4's, but it would also explain the later "mkII" revision of the Lexicon Studio, which was named the "Core-2 system" which debuted around the same time as "MacOS 9" operating system, in summer-fall of 1999. its possible there was some type of hardware conflict with the g4s different motherboard architecture, have u confirmed that there was a g4 update or are you speculating and hoping that there was one..  ?

re. proper title, well the drivers, the box and the brochure use some of this interchangeably [Lexicon Studiocore-32 system] so there is no correction to be made in my opinion.     See manual '...The PC-90 module can only be mounted onto a Lexicon Studio Core-32 system card' - whole system is referred to as lexicon studio but the PCi card (you make this point), drivers as 'studio core-32'...

This chap posted up a theory of ops for the unit on a sourceforge project to enable usb that never got off the ground : https://sourceforge.net/projects/lexiconstudio-i/

Had i known about the above i would picked up a LDT-10T, which i saw going without a cable and worked out the connections (it is a bespoke AMP narrow cable).   There is a service manual for the Core -2 but not for the Core-32.

as for hoping for a G4 update

well the item was hastily removed and it seems G4 drivers were promised but they don't seem to be on the FTP.  I have noticed there is a beta for faster ASIO performance and Lexicon were not fastidious about keeping documentation or drivers for these cards and so there is a chance a user may have a beta G4 release of the driver.

Looking at the Theory of OPs there is no h/w reason for the card not to work on a G4 (cf. AMCC bus master chips on Audiomedia IIs until rev QC).

If i can't get it to work in a G4 i may just off-load as whilst it works on Windows 98 that is not a happy environment for audio.

Hey guys,

Anyone find any last Mac Drivers for these?  Would love to get this running on our G4 systems with 9.2.2...that link posted above was a Wayback Machine link, and the files don't work...

Thanks!
Sig

well the wayback machine is somewhat "multidimensional" it takes multiple snapshots of the same files
sometimes it grabs the files sometimes it doesnt u have to keep checking different dates or use the options it provides to search for files with an extension mask (.bin, .sit etc) to find files

hi any joy with a G4 machine?
if so, which one?

i couldn't get it working on a Sawtooth or MDD 2003

i could only get it working with a G3 Beige.

PCI bus mastering changed in the G4.

thanks
