Post by: mrhappy on September 01, 2015, 11:43:47 AM: Hey kids... Bumped my 'new' QS from 867 to 933... It's crusin' along pretty good now with SSD boot drive too! Thanks to DieHard for the CPU daughter board!!!! ;D ;D

i really think they should have kept the design the same... imagine if they had just moved to standardized power supplies + kept the DA build and forgot about the dual cd drives.. tbh i think that is kind of stupid to try to put 2 dvd drives inside the tower..

whoever designed the MDD needs a slap :D

Post by: mrhappy on September 02, 2015, 04:35:15 AM: I was a bit surprised at the noticeable speed difference when I popped the 933 in there... Doesn't seem like a big jump from 867 but it certainly seems 'peppy' now!! haha! ;D

Just need to sort out my internal optical drive issue and I'll be off to the races! 8)

I have tried to swap in two different dual 1.0 processors in to my 933Mhz machine but can't get the machine to boot. Is there some other hardware adjustment that must be made? I thought this would be a simple swap.

otoh, you probably wont even get an apple branded dual 1.0 to run in a dual 800 machine.

I have an PowerMac G4 Digital Audio original 466 and upgraded it with the CPU and heatsink of a Quicksilver '02 Dual GHz. I had to add a fan and the +12Volts mod on a leg of the daughterboard.

There is a dual GHz MDD whose CPU cant be used on QS and pre QS.
