Title: Can't paste text in ResEdit
Post by: OS923 on November 20, 2021, 01:50:51 AM
If you experience that you can't paste text in ResEdit, then try this:
1. Make a new resource file.
2. Make a new 'TEXT' resource.
3. Paste your text here.
4. Select it.
5. Copy it.
6. You can now paste it everywhere.

would simpletext not "correct" the issues with certain text formats in the clipboard, too?

Old versions of the MacOS require that you explicitly import/export a local clipboard from/to the global clipboard. Old programs like ResEdit do that but in OS 9 it may fail to import. TextEdit uses its own clipboard. That’s why it works when you make a 'TEXT' resource.
