perhaps one of us could find this version of disk copy?
mine is only version 4.2! and has no option to create .smi in any of the windows...
im guessing another later version would have this feature!

wow this version has a lot more options.. very interesting!!  8)
including a "Clone" function..

in "about" it says copyright 1998-2002
this was definately the work that ended up being a large part of "diskUtility" in mac os x!!

I managed to open some dmg files using Toast. Not all of them, but a few. Your solution is pretty interesting. I'll give it a go when i get home.
