« on: March 10, 2014, 10:17:52 PM »
Some chat from Ars'tecnica 'bout last OS9 accelerated cards http://arstechnica.com/civis/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=643723
Specifically, this XLR8 Your Mac FAQ about the new retail version of the Radeon 9800 Pro AGP says that:

quote:The CD release includes updated Mac OS 9 extensions that allow the card to boot, but no acceleration or other features will be available.
Looking for MacOS 9.2.4

diehard has a dual 1ghz QS with a radeon 9800 in it that hes been testing..
and he has a problem with the extension crashing everytime he booted or something.. but it worked fine after that.. without "accelleration"
remember this "accelleration" your talking about refers to "3d" graphics..i dont think it applies to 2d graphics within the os itself, ie: desktop, apps etc
but i have an 8500 and it very much improves the speed of scrolling in classilla when its "accelleration" is active.. so who knows.. lol
