I don't think I've seen v.2.4 in the wild, but any key from previous versions starting with 2.1 will work.

* Why would anyone want to use MLCD, escapes me, to be honest. Why not WaveBurner?

Please tell me how the key (athorizer 2.1 image) works and what conditions (extension, software and etc) are needed for it to work?

the mounted image through the shrinkwrap does not start up, it says that I need to insert a floppy disk

FYI, back in the day, those in the business favoured slow write speeds. Fast was not always good.

Yes, of course you want to master at the lowest speed that the mechanism can handle properly. But the marketing at Sonic Studio got carried away with BS like "audio-grade electrolytic capacitors" "quartz crystal oscillator" I'm rolling my eyes so hard I might get a concussion.
Not the best example of "professional" practice

Yep, the best capacitor is the cheapest chinese one that the manufacturer can get away with to make sure the unit don't fall apart during 2 year period. Same with quartz oscillators. Everything else is snake oil and BS.
And, bits are bits and 16 are enough.

a good burner from 2003-2023 should be able to produce proper CD-R which will read in any cheap player, but if you burn 56x you should not be surpised when they do not work. ;)

i dont even do that for reasonably valuable data.
