All G3 B&W(Only blue ones) are 4 PCI, but the graphics are 66MHz.

A DA(I have a 466 upgraded to GHz dual), has 4 PCI but is grey.

a G3 DA from 2001? ;)

the blue G4 DA has 4 slots where the G4 "gigabit" from 2000 had only 3, like he said.

not sure about 64bit PCI - only the first, or all?

Chech your sight. Only Blue Power Mac towers were G3 B&W. Blue and White

All G4 towers are colourless

The reason I asked  G4 digital audio is for a MIX Core+3 MIX Farms, so 4 PCI slots needed.

AFAIK the 4th PCI slot on older  G4 models is just for video, so unsure if compatible with a MIX Farm

I have a working QS but it is too loud for me, and I don't want to faff around with replacement fans if I can avoid it, so am after a less noisy older G4  which will take the 4 MIX cards

Sorry about the colour thing - I was going on the appearance of the front panel - dark blue (or graphite?) to distinguish from the QS/MDD models with a lighter hue on the front panel.

The "Blue and White" G3s have a touch of green about them to me but maybe my colour perception is off.

I have a MIX setup with MIX core + MIX farm + DSP Farm II + DSP Farm.

Only worked fine on my MDD 867 Dual, after testing a MDD 1.25 uni and  a DA Upgraded to GHz dual.

Worked fine on the DA, but worked "better" on the dual 867, just because it has more memory (512Mb vs 1.75Gb)

Doing DIGITest on all setup, only the DA and the 867 dual showed all cards as "working" or passed test OK

How much memory are you allocating to PT and DAE on those 2 systems?
TDM plug-ins only or RTAS as well?

The noise consideration is the main thing, but unsure now if a 533Mhz Digital Audio is going to be much quieter than a 933 Mhz Quicksliver.
Also it looks like I might lose the capability for dual displays on the 533 DA.
-maybe a new thread...
