Wipeout 2097 quitting to desktop

Hi,
Wipeout 2097 quits to desktop - the game loads to selection screen with start and options and then quits and comes up with error type 2
I am using 1024x768 30fps
OS 9.2.2
Powermac MDD dual 1,25ghz with 2gb ram, 64mb ati 9200

Any ideas on this one?

A Type 2 error, in this case (based on when it's happening) is probably nothing more than a "not enough memory" issue.

Go to the app - don't launch it - just go there
Get Info on it
Increase whatever the "preferred memory" amount is by 50% or thereabouts

See if that fixes it.

Just getting type 3 error with various memory configs i have tried or just a blank screen

Interestingly i can't have virtual memory because it says in the control panel memory that i have too much - could this be a possible problem as it may require vm?

I will try removing one 512mb and then try again with the game

Still no luck - i'll try looking for another version of the game and failing that I still have my PS2!
