Hooking up a os9 mix rig via hd core pci(x) to a digi192
« on: September 02, 2022, 02:05:32 AM »
ive read that its possible and given the fact that 888 ios are
more common and cheaper than the cables noone has this is
a route to explore to get more people into os9

because 192 are cheap better and the cables are available

anyone connected a mix core directly to a 192?

But the short answer is No, sorry... your plan is foiled
After knowing PT since it was SoundTools II 93' I am just learning the answers to this,,,, this week  :o

Videos on OS9 w/ PT5 HD coming soon.
OS9 Lives will help you get into a PT system, were are you located?

Details....
on the back of the 192 & 96 is a DB60 port but it is a Thru / Out
to daisy chain 192i/o --> TO ---> legacy 888|24 , 882|20 , 1622

192 & 96 i/o can not directly connect and interface a Mix Core or Mix Farm card via the DB60 port.

192 & 96 can only be recognized in OS9 via ProTools 5.3.1 software thru a PCI-X HD Core card
in OS9 without PT5.3.1 the 192/96 are paperweight or a fancy door stop

the 192 is more of an investment than they appear
as they rarely come with digilink cables $40 - 80US used Sweetwater $70 - 130US
and DB25 to XLR or 1/4TSR snakes (you will need at least TWO) range from $50US on amazon to $450US on Sweetwwater

ok in essence you are saying straight aes/ebu/tdif/spdif is the only way for a 5.x rig and a say 2019 rig to communicate in realtime say use old plugins as insert on a 2019 rig
.
if that is so https://www.soundonsound.com/reviews/apogee-ad8000?amp

looks like the best translator between the old and the new world. it also allows you to send stuff to other sequencers than pro tools
