Macbook G4 wanted
« on: February 06, 2014, 05:39:49 PM »
Yea so as the title states I would really like a Oct 19, 2005 (Rev E) 17 or 15 inch Powerbook g4(M9969LL/A, M9970LL/A). The ones with the 1.67Ghz g4 cpu aluminium body ATI Radeon 9700 with 128 MB of DDR SDRAM and uses DDR2 SDRAM instead of DDR. Amount of ram or hdd doesn't matter since I can upgrade that.

Standard VRAM:   128 MB

graveyard: be nice  8)

OP: you realize this machine doesnt boot mac os 9 natively right?

MacOS 9 Support:   Classic Mode Only*   Windows Support:   Emulation Only
Details:   *This model is capable of using Mac OS 9 applications within the Mac OS X "Classic" environment provided with Mac OS X 10.4.11 "Tiger" and lower ("Classic" is not supported starting with Mac OS X 10.5 "Leopard"). It cannot boot into Mac OS 9.

pretty sure the last mac os 9 booting powerbook is:

and g3 ibook:

Ozfer...

you are not being criticized, it is just that certain Macs can be used for OS 9 and others cannot... so it was an assumption that you were interested (since this is an OS 9 forum) in a mac laptop that could boot directly to OS 9... which is as Chris mentioned, a PowerBook G4 1 GHz. Titanium series... Not an Aluminum Series...

Now that we know you don't need it for OS 9 then we can suggest eBay, the model you mentioned will still be cheap since it is PPC based and not in high demand... OS X Users won't want it (since it is non-Intel) and OS 9 users won't want it... we have a lot of people willing to help you here.

Its not what chris said that made me mad and insulted me its what graveyard said. I know what this powerbook is and I was looking to see if people had it for a reasonable price here. Ebay listing seem to always be all dinged up.

I didn't mean that as an insult. I was just trying to point at the fact that what you wanted was another product which is not called MacBook. Sorry if i offended you.
As a matter of fact, on the official Mac users' forum we have here in Romania, i saw a guy about a week ago which was selling a MacBook Pro. The incredible thing is that he had 3 photos attached. Two of them clearly showed a MacBook Pro cardboard box with the computer specs and all. The third one was of the actual computer inside the open box and with the lid open. Even a blind guy could see that it had PowerBook G4 written on it and that there was no iSight.
When i mailed him and asked what on earth he was selling after all and whether he might have posted the wrong pics, he answered in two short messages. The first one said that indeed it was a MacBook Pro that he was selling and the specs on the box were correct, just like he had written in his post. The second one that he sent, which was about 3 minutes after the first one, said that it was actually a PowerBook G4 like in the photo. Ok i said to myself. I'd be interested in buyng it, so i sent him another message, requesting the machine's real specs. Needless to say that he hasn't answered me from that point, nor has he modified his ad to show what he's really selling.
My point is, that i see so many people looking to sell or buy something that they know almost nothing about, that i'm going nuts. Also, it may have something with my OCD... :P

to be honest apple tries very hard to make it as confusing as possible. lol
it takes a considerable will to want to know the difference between their products (old or new)
