hi

i would like to be able to record into the mac via the cbx also with other software than Logic Audio on a 68k Mac or/and PPC ones. - for now it's the only functional app which rocks this thing... and as i would like that my young daughters can record some stuff easily with a simple looking GUI , it would be a blast ;-)

Hold on: I do have these somewhere, as I had (still have) a CBX.
I just have to dig it up... will post it when I find it.
Have you tried Macintosh Garden or Jag's house?

Here is the latest CBX-D5 driver I got. goes in the extensions folder.

I also suggest you track down and try Yamaha's "Tiny Wave Editor". Made to work with the CBX, could be a neat sound recorder/editor if not for the fact that you must specify the lenght of your recording before you start recording...

There was also a shareware called "CBX mixdown" I think that let you digitally process already recorded audio by the CBX. Could have been useful, but I never found a way to fully activate it.

Me, I just wish I could revive my copy of Digital Performer 1.4Y that came with the CBX: My authorization diskette is dead...

good luck,

You mean Digital Performer?
That won't do: DP 1.4Y was a version specifically designed for the CBX. it contains drivers and components to control the routing and onboard effects of the CBX that are not in other versions...

It's me again...
I did a rundown of the CBX stuff on my old computer, here's what I found:

I have three versions of the CBX extension: 1.00, 1.02 and 1.08.
Seems what I posted in my last message is 1.02. 1.08 is included in this message.
IIRC, it was quite an experience to find the exact combination of system, Quicktime and Sound control panel versions that worked smoothly with the CBX.

there are four versions of TWE I know of: 1.1.5, 1.3, 2.0 and 2.3.

The CBX "controller" utility I mentionned previously is called "MixDownCBX-D5 demo".
I found absolutely no trace of this on the internet, but it says in the docs it was part of the examples included in the MAX 3.5 package...

I also found a collection of message excerpts I had gathered on CompuServe (!) regarding the CBX...

that's it for now,

Hi Pierre

this is absolutely amazing news that you found something! But I think you did not attach these files in the right way. It shows Zero k when downloaded! Please, do it again , zipped or so ?!

Thank you very much!

I figured they show up as 0K as the files are pretty small (75K)...
I will think of a way to make it work. but don't expect me to ZIP anything: this is SO un-Macintosh...
I'll probably send a stuffit file.

OK, here's another try:
this "CBX package" contains the three CBX extensions, the MixDownCBX-D5 utility, and a self-extracting file of the last Tiny Wave Editor I know (2.3), all in a Stuffit file. Any competent OS9-running computer should be able to decompress it.

good luck!

Did you try everything with that Floppy? - Different floppy readers and some repair apps?

Oh yes!
I ran out of installs, of which there are three (I got it used, so there was one already used), and then my attempts to revive it made it die entirely. I could not even use it "live" in the disk drive to authorize an already installed version to run. Thy used a pretty tough protection scheme...
