Steinberg TDM
« on: October 23, 2021, 11:34:41 AM »
hi
so ive stumbled across a few threads and you seem to be the guy to ask

ive found a STEINBERG-TDM -PLUG IN'S.sit

DeClicker, DeNoiser, D-Pole, FreeFilter, Magneto, Loudness Maximizer, Spectralizer, Q-Metric, QuadraFuzz, VoiceDesigner, Virtual FX Rack, Tun-A, TimeGuard, Red Valve-lt

id like to get them hooked up to my current pro tools HDX HD I/O system because i loved those back in the day

what i know

- System Requirements for those Plugins (1999): Power Mac 604(e)-132MHz, 24MB RAM, MacOs 7.5+, Cubase 3.02+ und TDM-ProTools-System
- Cubase TDM 4.1 (1999) surely ran those still
- PT 6.4.1 is the last software that can use MIX CARD hardware
- MIX interfaces are compatible via HD interface Legacy port, at least until PT8 -> who knows whats the latest version of pro tools that supports legacy port?

got any ideas how to emulate? something to access those via AES/EBU (mix rig - hd rig) ?
Looking for MacOS 9.2.4

Do you have a MIX set up?

Legacy conector AFAIK is for conecting black old school (888/24, etc) converters, not a host system, but I can be wrong.

Name the interface you have on HDX.

If you just love those old plugs I would just use the latest version (the VST one) with an M-Audio AP 24/96 and 2 SPDIF cables. And Just install DieHard Instant Cubase DAW. I think they are included, but I could also be wrong or maybe you just prefer the old TDM algorithm.

With a Digi 001 card you have ADAT in+ Adat out, that could be more productive.

If you like to run those plugs in a TDM environment + Protools TDMprepare to learn WTF is a MIX, a MIX+, a TDM, etc. Only worth trying if you already have the hardware.

If the HDX has AES/EBU then a black 888/24 + a Mix Core may serve you, but again, I am expert in LE setups, and HD since PT 8.

No, maybe, IDK

He wrote me a PM and I decided to answer in public just in case it helps others or TDM team demands them.

steinberg/spectral designs ceased TDM support 15 years ago i think. they have never seen 64 bit, intel, ilok, AAX and all that fancy modern stuff. :)

as far as i understand it it was done at hte time of cubase VST 4.0  (1998) to suppport cubase on pro tools hardware
its advertised on their website ont he backup archive
it was supporting the pro tools hardware of that time, pro tools 24, 24mix, 24mix plus etc

it was a thing back then so much that there were even TDM only plugns such as one example:

yeah, and it is not really wonder that the spectral designs are the only ones which didnt made it to HDX and later. all other 1996 TDM plug-in makers still support the PT platform. :)

shouldnt we put the TDM bundle somewhere to point people to the dl in PM? i also get requests for them from time to time.

so i have tracked down a G4 with core and 2 farm cards. a magma chassis with 2 additional mix farm cards. also a digidesign adat bridge.
if all works as intended i can hook this up via my lynx hilo and can send tracks from within modern pro tools to soon to be G4 pro tools rig for vintage processing power.

what i am not sure about is the "generation of early TDM" Mac or later PowerMac
i mean those TDM plugins are from 1995/1996 - will they run at all on this 2000ish Powermac G4 mix core and mix farm cards or do they need earlier ones?

Steinberg DeClicker TDM
Steinberg DeNoiser TDM?
Steinberg FreeFilter TDM?
Steinberg Magneto TDM
Steinberg Spectralizer TDM
Steinberg Loudness Maximizer TDM?
Steinberg Red Valve-lt TDM
Steinberg TimeGuard TDM
Steinberg Tun-A TDM
Steinberg Virtual FX Rack Vol. 1 (1995) (Hallelujah!, PlateRunner, PANdora, Y‑Cables, Stereo Wizard) "for TDM equipped Mac or PowerMac"
Steinberg Q-Metric TDM?
Steinberg QuadraFuzz TDM?
Steinberg VoiceDesigner TDM?
Steinberg The Mastering Edition TDM? (Bundle)
