Quicksilver 1 GHz DP CPU?
« on: August 24, 2021, 08:33:15 AM »

Seeking an Apple 661-2591 / 820-1324-A  / 1 GHz DP CPU for a Quicksilver.
To replace one that I sent out… that came back toasted.
And no - I won't pay $149.00 for one from DV Warehouse.

All reasonable prices considered & willing to trade
... possible other items for this too.

Might even consider an SP, 933 MHz as well. ;)

Late to the party, but mine is sitting unused as you fixed the old Mac. Whole or parts.

Thank ya.

Inasmuch as I would dearly love to have another 1GHz DP QS… “MOM” says that I have enough Macs, guitars and amps. (As if one could really ever have too many.) But I am trying to limit myself to three each of any working item. (3 MDDs, 3 Quicksilvers, etc.) BUT if nobody else jumps on your QS (as they damn well should) I might be eventually forced to make an exception. :o

I did finally acquire another 1 GHz DP CPU in a trade so I am ‘flush’ in the QS department once again. And as long as it took for me to find that CPU, it does seem that they are becoming more scarce and consequently… more expensive when located. (Maybe Borgmac would be interested? Drop him a note or I’ll mention it when next we converse.)

But seriously, it would be a crime to part it out. (Is it the “Chernobyl Edition” Quicksilver? A definite legend among Quicksilvers here!) Some-body had better scoop it up.

A board or B board? I’ve forgotten.

I shipped a complete 9600 to Syntho a year or so ago via UPS and I think that ran around $50.00. So for a “FREE room heater” Quicksilver - that’s not BAD at all. (It’s a steal!) ;)

Indeed the “Chernobyl Edition” Quicksilver with the B board.

Borgmac wants me to bag it up and ship all 30 lbs to him, I need to get creative doing a Quicksilver krate when time allows. A UPS $tore box and tongue stuck out side of mouth makes me cringe...

I am happy to be able to get the “ Chernobyl Edition”, I will try to be a good user, at the level of the previous owner  8)
For the packaging it is a pity because I still have the original box from my Quicksilver. But sending it to you empty will cost me the same amount as sending it back with 30 lbs inside  >:(

From all interactions with Borgmac and with Ninester…
I’m certain that it will be coming from a great home
and going to a great home.

With the cost and perils of shipping such items
(especially these days) it’s unfortunate that there’s
no nationwide rideshare network to... say…
St. Louis, Louisville or Cincinnati from New Orleans
- or other points of origin / or destinations?

RIDE WANTED:
North from New Orleans for a small, lightweight
passenger that requires no rest stops, food or drink
and with no bothersome chit-chatty conversation.
Passenger to be picked-up at destination.

With the low air fares last year, I even considered buying
a seat (for a guitar) headed to the west coast from America’s
heartland. (Thinking outside of that normal “shipping” box.)
There must be a better, different way?

As “Mom” won’t allow me the Chernobyl Edition Quicksilver
I’d even consider helping with the cost to assist in this effort.
The C-E-Q deserves a suitable, "forever home".

See this thread:
http://macos9lives.com/smforum/index.php/topic,4311.msg29764.html#msg29764

I still think about wrapping a full-sized G4 in wax paper
or shrink wrap - AND then filling the box around it with
that canned, spray-in, expanding foam insulation. ::)

After all: Mother ("Mom") IS the necessity of invention! ;)

Do please keep us all posted.

IIO, you been reading Ram Dass again? "Be here now"?

Carl Spackler: A looper, you know, a caddy, a looper, a jock. So, I tell them I'm a pro jock, and who do you think they give me? The Dalai Lama, himself. Twelfth son of the Lama. The flowing robes, the grace, bald... striking. So, I'm on the first tee with him. I give him the driver. He hauls off and whacks one - big hitter, the Lama - long, into a ten-thousand foot crevasse, right at the base of this glacier. Do you know what the Lama says? "Gunga galunga... gunga, gunga-lagunga". So we finish the eighteenth hole and he's gonna stiff me. And I say, "Hey, Lama, hey, how about a little something, you know, for the effort, you know." And he says, "Oh, uh, there won't be any money, but when you die, on your deathbed, you will receive total consciousness." So I got that goin' for me, which is nice. - Bill Murray / Caddyshack

Or...
"No matter where you go,
when you get there,
there you are."
;)

Okay I'm off... digging more holes in the dirt!

it is a buddhist saying, which i quoted in one of my sequencer modules´ source code (a module where a center and its surrounding play an important role).

no lamas involved (and hence no lamas were hurt during the making.)

Thanks for the proposal of bringing Chernobyl closer to home.
I can add that a good meal will be shared at arrival, even a night at my place if it can help.
What’s upset me the most is that a have the original packaging from my 733 Quicksilver, but it does cost the same $54 to send it empty than to send it with the 30 lbs QS  >:(

For my pal IIO… for clarification (and just in case there’s a ever a pop quiz).
One of these things is not like the others.  ;)

Maybe it should be “Dalai Alpaca”?
(Some apparent resemblance there.)

And…
Trying to convince my wife to spend a weekend in New Orleans  8)
Try bribery / coercion:
Offer the wife advance breakfast reservations @ Brennan’s - or lunch / dinner @ Antoine’s… and most definitely, chicory coffee and beignets at the Café Du Monde. *Of course, only the Café Du Monde would be less expensive than the $54.00 shipping charge. But any combination of any two of the above (or all three) is more than ample reason to visit the Big Easy (in addition to the C-E-Q pickup).

And remember… "Gunga galunga... gunga, gunga-lagunga”.

Hope that the Chernobyl Edition Quicksilver deal somehow works out y'all. ;)
