There are Midi over Lan HARDWARE out there. It is like a PowerLineConverter to ethernet but for MIDI. Hmmm. Midi to ethernet with PLC DoItYourself cable? Midi is serial data at a given speed, supposed to be slower than RJ45 10/100/1000 Mb/s. Hmmm. Let us do music and do not spend time making electronic projects

There is nothing like a REAL midi cable to link MacOS9 DAWs.
We have FireNet software here. Perhaps someone can make an http/ftp to midi conversion (we have codewarrior ) but don´t seem to be a software to do that, at least on OS9.
One Mac, One MIDI interface. Two macs, two midi int. and one cable linking them. 3 macs, 3 midi int. with 2 cables... Midi Out from DAW x to Midi In from DAW y and the Out to the IN of DAW z Rule works. At least using some DAW as samplers/vsti and returning audio to the main DAW.
I am not so sure if you need to make a ring with the midi or a single line.Perhaps it depends of what you are doing.
Other thing is to sync DAWs for enhanced Inputs/Track Count/Outputs (and summing the outputs of them Mixing in the box/Outgear)
I remember from a recording made with two G4 w/DIGI001 and linking them just with the midi (NOT USING ADAT FOR SYNC) using midi time code or midi something with one being master and other slave. Recorded with PT 5 LEs and mixed later in just 1DAW w/LogicOn X since Tiger you got something from Apple to LAN the MIDI. There was a try on Panther from a Third, but never tried.I am really sorry for this off'topic chat.
