Powermix & TDM

I installed the powermix extension. Supposedly you can hold down N and switch your system from tdm to powermix. I tired that and it wouldn’t work. The only way I could get it to work was to install a full ‘powermix’ installation from my PT CD. I wonder why a normal tdm installation along with the powermix extension won’t let you switch. It’s using the same files...
