All Music and Sound Programs for OS9
« on: January 24, 2014, 06:16:06 AM »
Let's make a list of all OS9 software from :

http://macintoshgarden.org/apps/music-sound

No system 7 or 8 . We are in Mac OS 9!   ;)

Then ChrisNova can make links to Our Page forum for them

Here is some content that has been banned/reserved from the garden.

Audacity 1.0

Audacity is a free audio editor. You can record sounds, play sounds, import and export WAV, AIFF, Ogg Vorbis, and MP3 files, and more. Use it to edit your sounds using Cut, Copy and Paste (with unlimited Undo), mix tracks together, or apply effects to your recordings. It also has a built-in amplitude envelope editor, a customizable spectrogram mode and a frequency analysis window for audio analysis applications. Built-in effects include Echo, Change Tempo, and Noise Removal, and it also supports VST and LADSPA plug-in effects.

Unfortunately, projects usually drop support not for fun but because a framework/tool no longer support the OS or sometimes because it gets annoying to support the particular old needs of an OS. Best case scenario it is a question of dealing with idiosyncratic bugs and worst case scenario it is a quest for backporting frameworks before even touching the main project.

I had a similar reaction with MuseScore that stopped PPC with 1.2 and the 2.0 source was not very noob friendly (without being acquainted with how the last supported one builds + some luck as to why they stopped...

Yet, it is a seductive prospect to breathe life in an FOSS project on our PPC machines... Maybe there should be a crash course for that (to help spread the ways to get onboard such endeavour without facing a gigantic frustration wall :p).
Ti 1 GHz / 1 GB / FW SSD / Airport Extreme PCMCIA (triple boot)
Alu 12 1.5GHz / 1.5 GB / 256 GB mSata SSD (dual boot for now)

Or sometimes programmer updates computer that not support OS :) Or I know one case when programmer didn't have beta tester to older OS version, although he could compile to it, when asked.

Of course it's hard continue to newest version, but how about update 1.0 to 1.1 or only add something that programmer wants.
