Problems with my Mac
« on: August 26, 2020, 01:58:03 AM »
So... 5 month ago I posted topic about problem with mac os 9.2 that I downloaded from this forum. One nice guy sent me stuff that should've helped, but I was unable to test it then. A few days ago I tried them and it didn't work, so I tried to boot from "Universal Install Mac OS 9.2" disk with other hard drive, and it won't boot from it...

This is my machine.
So you may ask why I didn't continue topic that was already on ? Well... for some reason I can't open it. I keep on getting error HTTP 500.

If CD ejects when trying to boot from it, then Mac doesn't recognise a system folder on it for some reason.

I've not personally used the Universal Install available on this site. But I can confirm my G4 400 works fine with the OS9.2.2 General also available here (you need OS X to open that one though).

What OS is currently running? Have you proven all hardware is working ok?

I can't open your original post either - just get a blank screen. Wierd.

I don't have any os installed on it currently. Also I was unable to find working image of Mac OS X, and by the way can I get link for 9.2 general ?
Update : Sorry I forgot I already tried os9general image, didn't see the disk
Update 2: I installed once mac os 9.2 on it that I found somewhere online, but after a few days os corrupted it self. Other wise it worked correctly if we forget the fact that os corrupted it self. Also machine was used at office.

CDs are too unreliable for me.

How about using Firewire Target disk mode?

Put the G4 Mac in target mode, connect to working Mac.

Install OS directly to G4 Mac's HD from working Mac.
