Installing Pixar Typestry on a Ibook G3 with OS 9 Classic
« on: August 20, 2020, 06:49:09 AM »
Hi,

i want to install Pixar Typestry 2.1.1.on my Ibook G3. I have six disk images. I can mount it, but if i start install from disk 1, the Finder quit.

Has anybody installed it or is it not compatile to OS 9?

I can remember that there were already problems with the installation back then (I owned the program at the time).

I think that is for System 7, but you can try my general old System 7 programs in OS 9 hints:
In installation:
- put screen resolution 640x480
- put screen color to 256 color
- try install to small under 4 GB partition.
- don't use disk images if you can use real disks
After installation:
- set more memory to application
- you can try better screen resolutions and colors
- come here to tell how you get it working or not

On the download link  say sys 7-7.6

I downloaded this yesterday and was able to run it in OS 9 sheepshaver/chubby bunny emulation. It asked for ATM version I do not have to run the postscript fonts. It is primitive and hard to use. with limited feature set, BUT it it Pixar. To see what Pixar people made back in 1994 is a bit of magic. I made some renders that were lightning fast even at the highest quality settings running in emulation on a PowerBook. THank you for sharing!

Looking for MacOS 9.2.4

Sometimes those text aren't accurate (I don't speak this particular program), but mostly they are and comments gives sometimes hints.
But with my above hints I have managed work some programs that are listed system 7 only.

Possible it´s a problem with the disk images? it goes to finder error after the first disk image.

Is it possible to install a real OS 7.5 on the Ibook G3?

It was no problem to install it on maintosh.js.

I think it has to do with classic.
