OS 9.2.2 and Dark Castle
« on: July 21, 2020, 06:41:16 PM »
Hey all

I downloaded the OS9 version of Dark Castle and when trying to run it I get the message that it needs the screen to be set in 2 color mono. I can't figure how to do that in OS 9.2.2
Its a Clamshell Ibook if that makes a difference.

thanks

Gary

hm, OS9 doesnt not support that at all, at least not when you connect a color monitor. but have you tried if it maybe works with 256 colors?

I think the original Dark Castle only supports black & white. There was, however, a mid-90s re-release by Delta Tao with colour graphics. Grab that one from the Mac Garden. It'll work with setting the display to 256 colors as suggested by IIO above.

If you're looking for the b&w graphics because of nostalgia, you could try to emulate a Mac Plus on OSX 10.4 with Mini vMac. First download on this page here. Not sure what the performance will be on a Clamshell, might be too slow.

Wouldn't that thread better fit to the Games subforum?
