Ordered online Direct from Firmtech
got a tracking number that day
shipping was mildly extended via COVID wait was about 12 work days
showed up at my door step

Plugged the card into my G4 MDD 1.25G  then hooked up the drives
no software no drivers
less than 2 minute install
Boots to OS9 on all of the 10+ SATA3 SSD s i have in stock and tested

speed and and transfer rates more than doubled over IDE to SATA adapter w/ same SSD
*tested in Norton Tools / System Info / Bench app

Basic test with ProTools 5 Mix Plus gave me a silky smooth DAW experience

I am very happy with this purchase
it was very worth the money for my situation and application
I may actually buy a spare
it is nice to be able to buy modern SATA3 Samsung EVO 860s from any retailer pop it in an start working or playing.

take into account that both the seritek and the dual 1,25 support 64 bit

Oh, my mistake, the MDD has a 64 Bit @ 33 MHz PCI Bus, not PXI-X of course. But still it is a theoretical bandwidth of 0,266 GByte/s. So the 150MB/s of the SATA 1 controller of this SeriTek card could be reached nearly completely at every task.

yup, it might make a difference wether youre using this card with a 64 bit capable pci bus (MDD 2002, digital audio) or e.g. in a quicksilver, i remember some results from @mactron.

because PCI 2.x && 33MHz && 32 bit == <133MB/s

all other combinations, when either the "bit" or the "mhz" go beyond  these values, the interface will theoretically allow SATA-150 to reach its maximum. it´s all theory of course, not real life.

To be honest, 120 bucks for the 1V4 is a lot. And I am not sure if it is wise to "waste" the bandwith of the PCI bus for mass storage. The internal IDE should – with a simple IDE to SATA adapter – be able to deliver as well nearly 100MB/s with 0% PCI usage. So I am wondering what makes more sense, and if the theoretical 50% faster mass storage is the way to go, ... ?

Another way to go is a little cheaper and external:

1. The SeriTek/1eSE2 is currently on sale for $49.95

3. Above case doesn't come with eSATA cables (just USB cables for power) so you'll need some - but also available from The Borg (two 3' cables for less than $10, via "Prime")

Advantages:

1. Drives easily movable between multiple machines if need be

2. A little cheaper

Disadvantages:

1. Less channels of SATA goodness ...

perfect for someone who doenst like external gear. i went the cheap route and now i have 18 rack spaces full of power switches, PSUs, cables and firewire cases and when my firewire hubs break i can no longer work.

LOL - it is.
Quick status report: collected some Frodo-s, they should be better and cost much less. Not much is done for the Frodo yet - but the SImage 3114 is now being tested even on Intel.
The PowerPC driver ("X") for 3114 / 3112 / 680 is in good shape, don't need to do much regarding the FCODE and the "9", once it is done, let's people decide what is the next.
