The hunt for Amplitube VST: A Mac OS 9 Odissey
« on: December 13, 2019, 01:46:05 PM »
I don´t know if this is the correct place for this. If not, Moderators please feel free to move it to another sub forum or delete it completely.
English is not my mother language so i apologize for any mistake.

I´ve been searching for an amp simulator to use in Nuendo / Cubase for a week or so, with no luck. My best bet was to find installers for Steinberg Warp or Amplitube 1.0 in VST format. Neither of both are available here, and i wasn´t able to find them anywhere on the web, and believe me, i have searched A LOT. So, i decided to ask IK Multimedia (the makers of Amplitube) for a demo. IK Multimedia products of that era are very easy to crack, I have a keygen for them that always works fine.

To my surprise, they told me they DON´T HAVE THE PLUGIN ANYMORE, that it is too old. How can be possible that a sofware house doesn´t keep a backup of their own products? I mean, of ALL their own products? Their argument of the plugin being too old was clearly bs, so i insisted. I told them i would buy the product if i liked it. So, magically, they found an installer for Amplitube 1.3 and sent a download link to me. My disappointment was high when i downloaded it only to found out it was the OSX version. So i wrote them again, explaining the difference between OS 9 and OS X, gave them a little history lesson, and adviced them to look for a .sit file, not a .dmg. I even told them that the two verions were contemporary. I knew more of IK Multimedia that their own employeers. Absurd.

Long story short, they told me again that they just don´t have the plugin anymore.

What do you think guys?

they should both be here.

why nobody sells software anymore for a 20 years old OS? i dont know, but i guess that it is not very economical to give support for something which covers maybe 0,1% of the market.

the last classic OS audio software releases i´ve seen were barbabatch (around 2004), some plug-in which i dont remeber now (around 2005) and Csound 5 (around 2007)

currently pianoteq is one of the two last products for OSX for PPC, which saw an update in 2019.

this is the version you are after?
reviewed in October 2002?

Yes, it is. The RTAS version is here to download. I need the VST. I doesn´t mind if it´s not cracked or if it´s a demo. I can fix that myself. Just need the installer.

WOOOOW, thank you macStuff!!!!

I tried the wayback machine yesterday, but always ended redirected to a download form on the old ik multimedia site, that pointed to nothing... How did you find it? How do you search for files on the archived web pages?

This is incredible, thanks a lot, thanks!

I have already done that ;-) AmpliTube it´s up and running on my PowerBook.
Here´s the keygen. It´s a windows .exe, so use it under your own risk, please!

There's something wrong with the attachment - in my case it downloads only as a 4Kb(!) file.
If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the problem.

Thanks guys.
No change.
ik_kg.zip - still 4kb, unzips as empty folder called 't-racks'
atkg.zip - also 4kb, unzips as folder called 'AmpliTube ONLY' with RTF file inside called 'SN.rtf' which contains 4 different serial numbers.
No keygen in either case.
If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the problem.

Weird. Maybe your antivirus is deleting the .exe files without asking you first?
