VID ISSUE
« on: October 12, 2019, 02:25:28 PM »
I cooked my Nvida card in my QS G4. Replaced it with a Nvida MX4 and my OS (.2.2  HD boot to 256 colors and I can't figure out how to boot to Millions of colors. Also My Start up disc Extention went kaput and freezes when I try to boot to my Leopard HD. Any tips I might try? PS Love MACOS9LIVES!!!

last startup disk selection set in the OSX or OS9 controlpanel is also stored in the PRAM, so reset that bitch.

ok. well i could only guess again. preferences file of the monitor settings?

or did you change anything to your system which you dont remember?

the issue with the boot disk seems completly unreleated to a broken video card.

I tried display prefs. no go. As far as I know I was dorking around inside the case while it was still plugged in. I heard as spark and quickly unplugged the computer. When I powered back up, the graphics card was non-existent. I ordered the NVida 4MX on eBay. I installed it, this time with the computer unplugged, and it was up and running. The only problem is, at boot OS 9 loads in 256 colors not millions as the monitor control panel shows. And I can choose OS 9 In my system prefs. and boot into OS 9 from OS X Leop., But my Start-up disc Control Panel in OS 9 is non-responsive and locks up so I can't boot back into OS X.

Does the Startup Disk CP freeze if the Leopard HD is disconnected/unmounted? And any other drives you've got for that matter.
The issue might be related to the actual checking of the drives, rather than the CP itself.

The CP seems to be working fine without the OSX hd disconnected
