« on: April 19, 2019, 07:15:34 AM »
Hello guys my name is Colin an I got a problem with my iMac g3 it runs Mac OS 8.2.

I accidentally changed the start up disk to the cd that was insert but now everytime I try to boot my Mac up its says error and that I should restart and press shift but this doesn’t help because my Mac tryes to start from the cd but on the cd was just music so is there anyway to change the start Volumen to the previous Volumen and away from the cd without beinig logt in ?

Several oddities here that need clarifying...

OS8.2? I assume you mean 8.1 or 9.2? (8.2 was a rare beta).

How did you manage to change the startup disk in the first instance? I don't know of anyway to change it to an audio CD!

If the Mac can't find a system folder on the CD it should look elsewhere.
Your vague error message sounds like it is actually booting from the HD but is crashing for some reason. What were you doing before it went wrong?

Suggest you start from a CD with a system on it, so you can diagnose the HD.

It sounds like you are using Multiple Users or something like that which enforces the startup device and throws an error if the wrong one is used.

Is that correct?
