PPC version of SimpleText
« on: April 17, 2019, 01:18:45 AM »
The Apple sample code contains the source code of SimpleText 1.4. This can build a PPC version of SimpleText. I tried this and it works.

There's also a SimpleText Pro. It supports text of more than 32K. This was an abandoned project by Marco Piovanelli and Alessandro Levi Montalcini, but I tried it for some time and I wouldn't go back to SimpleText.

ive always preferred iText over simpletext pro - it has a little bug where it sometimes scrambles colors when you control documents from dreamweaver while they are also open in iText - but its main advantage is that it exists for OSX, too.

If you want going step more for MacOS 9 you can start update textedit calls to unicode:

I bought my first new Mac when OS X 10.1 released. And I bought that Mac because it had Mac OS 9 too. And I bought my first 68k Mac when Apple stopped PPC Macs.
