Working - Mac OS 9 on PowerBook G4 5,6 1.83Ghz
« on: March 08, 2019, 12:08:56 AM »
I managed to get my hands on two overclocked PBG4's that run at 1.83Ghz, went through the same process detailed here and got OS9 running: http://macos9lives.com/smforum/index.php/topic,4781.0.html

The most interesting part about this is that it actually appears to be running at full speed. When I run the NewerTech CPU gauge on my 5,2 1.0Ghz machine it reports that it's running at 233Mhz (Although it feels a lot faster than this and can run some pretty demanding games..). It has a SSD installed and the system flies!! It's super fast. I've had it running for ~1hr and it's warm, but no hotter than my 5,2 machine when that's under lots of stress. L2 Cache appears to be missing or unrecognised.

The only thing usability wise that doesn't work is the track pad which pretty much renders it useless as a laptop
