while the modem is the same there's no way you would fit the receptacle end of it into the space for the modem port on the back of the machine. its super cramped in there. the RJ11 board is actually L-shaped and somewhat wraps around the IEC power socket.  You'd have to run the cable outside the case through one of the vent holes, or make significant modification to the case.

The stealth card is working well in a clamshell  -afro-, should be able to run serial connector out of the RJ11 modem port hole.

Now, how do I get it back together.  ;D

WTF ?  Wow, that is amazing, you guys crack me up !

Why put it back together, screw it to a wood plank, mount it on the wall and use an external keyboard

I've tested a Stealth port in my G4 Lamp, and PB Lombard as well. Both have physical issues.

I once thought about making a serial-based MIDI interface that fits in the Lombard drive bay and connects via a flat cable to the modem header, but I doubt it'll even happen.

USB to MIDI adopters don't work under OS 9?

Turns out I didnt need the wood plank Diehard  ;D

I actually did this on a whim as I was installing an SSD in the Clamshell and had to basically take the whole computer apart anyway.

Everything fit back together nicely. I had some concern about the height of the ribbon cable mount on the Stealth card (that big black piece) but in the end, the computer closed just fine, no physical compromises or any obvious issues. I'm using it to sequence external samplers with the MIDI sequencing program M.

So far so good!

This is seriously cool! Great work.

Do you have the full version of M, BTW? And if so, would you share it? It's a great programme.

Chris gets Kudos for even suggesting this...hehehe

This is definitely epic and one of the coolest mods... built in serial MIDI port in a Clamshell !

This "toilet seat" has a new found respect and I actually forgot how cool they look; yours is in awesome shape and the plastic is non-yellowed and looks new

5 out of 5 stars :) and the official Diehard Stamp of approval...

The only thing we need now is a full endorsement from M.A.R.L. of at lest a comment from Mactron

you are the first person i know who actually uses M.

even the clamshell monitor seems oversized for its interface. :)

thanks for the comments everyone!

For those interested, M is attached here. I've included the tutorial pdf and midi files as a separate archive as it is from the newest version OS X (which I own and can also recommend as well). The pertinent details in the pdf should be the same.

This is not my original archive, but many thanks to a really generous user on Chris' http://www.oldschooldaw.com who was kind enough to share it with me, so cheer's to all of you who are active in facilitating spaces like this, I am really grateful.
